Picture Quality

I've looked through various threads relating to picture quality and deinterlacing, I've tried Nvdvd 2.55, 3.0, moonlight elecard, dscaler, ffdshow, all are no use, the result is always an ugly ghosted picture, my aim is to try and get it as good as the Sky Digital box but this seems impossible right now.

Has anyone anything else for me to try?

Have you tried a different cable? Ghosting sounds like something is wrong with the incomming signal.

It's deinterlacing fields, you can see on freezeframe, but there seems to be multiple

If you can see deinterlacing fields then you need to deinterlace. Have you tried hardware (DXVA) deinterlacing with any of those decoders?

Yeah, that Geforce2 has squat for DXVA, although nVDVD 3 in Software mode should do a very good job from my experience.

You are talking about something like this correct?

The fields look blended on mine, I'm using nvdvd 2.55 with vertical stretch. I noticed earlier that people faces with the nvdvd codec were alternating colours, very strange.

The hauppauge codec is the better quality I think but while im using it there are very faint vertical lines on the screen, they're static always in the same place.

Like:

| | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | |

down the picture, very faint, but noticable.

Using VMR9.

Hit PrintScreen when you see the artifact and post a screenshot for us, what you describe doesn't sound like what I think of as "Ghosting" or "Deinteralcing artifacts".

Ghosting is the nvidia codec, the lines are the intervideo one, I'm not sure the lines would show up on a screenshot, I'll try at some point.

How about for a Radeon 9600? I get a similar effect except that the lines aren't noticeable but the mobile part of the image blurs.
