Gemstone 1.0612 - a small fix

I made a small fix this morning to handle an issue when the menus loaded prior to the init being complete (it was too FAST!!!).

I have sent it out to all who are testing.

Please make sure you test with the most recent version before posting any issues and retest any reported bugs.

Thanks

k

Haven't tried the newest version yet but I will say the .1 version is running great but I reset all the gemstone settings before i installed it. The Java heap is staying much lower now. Thanks for the great work.

Didn't need to reinstall, ver. 162 fixed it. I can now select the menus and the widgets are working! Thanks!

Heap size is definately lower. I now have all the devices moved over to Gemstone and the better half is getting used to it (although she does miss the context menus and seeing "droid" when cycling menu options).

BTW - I've been delaying upgrading to the latest Java (V6U35). Currently on V6U31. Any reason not to upgrade (or even go down the V7 path)?

Gemstone has brought new life to my HD100 it is still slow some time but compared to Diamond it is much faster. I could not Cover Flow at all on the HD100 with Diamond with Gemstone it takes a moment to load but it does load and I flow through my movies now. Thanks for the hard work and the improved response time on the extenders.

My heaps are still crazy large on 0162.

Was running in to the limit (of 1300 MB) more than once last night. In fact one event caused an in-process network encoder recording to halt as the garbage collection tried to make more space.

What are your heap settings and your specific setup... Extenders, placeshifters, clients, plugins etc.

As far as I understand 1024 is themax heap that is stable, but I need more info from those having issues.

And some info from those NOT having issues.

BTW...try pressing delete on the main menu to see if after a few seconds the heap cleans up any.

And as always, the logs uploaded to the issue site may help.

I was having issues when I went above 1024 ... no Issues since I went to 1024 and latest release. I use clients the highest heap so far 393mb/475mb/1024. As you can see the max is not even half of the availible.

I am using Java 7 on my clients both 32 bit and 64 bit on my 64 bit systems... and 32 bit on my 32 bit clients. I am running the below.
Weather Widget
Recent Recording Widget.
Upcoming Recordings Widget
Recording Space widget

Plugins
Automatic Aspect Ratio Switcher
Comskip
CMT
MiniGuide
Multi Function Stop
One Time Favorite

I am only using flows not using the default TV menu.

My heap never goes above 560mb with the new release. It was over 1200 with the old one. Thanks, and everything is working wonderfully.

FYI Widgets Issue,

Just noticed that the 1st run only thing you fixed for "Upcoming Recordings" is still broken for "Recently Recorded"

My wife recorded some non first runs that don't show up in the recently recorded but I can see that the Upcoming Recordings is working properly.

Thanks again for all your work.

I think the 1st run only thing was fixed in 1.017, which hasn't been released yet.

Correct.. There are a number of fixes in 1.017 so hopefully I can get it out today or tomorrow.
