Hunger Games won't play...

I backed up my copy of the hunger game to my library and It won't play on the extenders. It just sits there during the initialization.. It won't list any titles.

Do I need to do anything special? Or am I going to have to make an MKV out of it?

How does sage deal with Bluray discs? There are lots of playlists on the disc.

I read something about new protection on that DVD/BD that causes trouble with fake file structures.

I used anydvd to back it up and then clownbd to extract the main title and did not have any trouble playing it on an HD300.

from what I understand, there are a ridiculous number of possible full movies. I forget which one was the correct one, but only one works. The rest will result in a file that jumps forward to the actual games of one of the players dying, than jump back.

From what I have heard, people are having trouble playing the dvd version on old dvd players.

Yeah there are a bunch of playlists. But I can't even get sage to list them!

Can I hack the blue ray files to make this work? I tried removing all the playlists but the correct one, but I still can't get sage to play the bluray..

I was hoping to just keep the bluray structure. One less step.

How is clownbd these days vs say MakeMKV (Who's website has disappeared recently..) vs handbrake

I remember clown being not that easy to use. Subtitles had to be processed differently?? But that was a while ago. One I saw that Sage could *mostly* play the bluray backup directly, I stopped converting them.

Yeah, Hunger games was very annoying. I think the correct Title was #6 on the BR I got from Redbox.

I've only been using clownbd for a month or so. I find it prety straight forward. Select the BR, tell it the working folders, then after it analyses the streams, I look up the length of the movie on IMDB and select the stream with that length. Tell it to output a BR structure and it is off to the races.

I use to copy the entire BR disk and then delete the playlists and m2ts files that were not part of the playlist I wanted to keep. The Sage extenders play it fine this way, but I recently got a client and TMT5. TMT 5 would not play them until I ran them through clownBD.

I had that exact problem with the last Twilight movie. In MakeMKV, I had 30 titles to choose from. I used AnyDVD HD to rip the full Blu-ray and copied that to my Sage server. Twilight is now my only HD movie in Blu-ray folder format .

How did you determine that? Is there a method or just trial/error?

Does this issue only affect Bluray DVDs, I ask because I did not have any issues with the regular DVD rip using DVDfab.

Sadly just trial and error. I've read about people having it be other titles so I think they produced a few different versions of the BR disc.

Some people have said that their bluray play will tell them which playlist they are using when using the menus.. Not sure if mine will do that or not.

if you are using anydvdhd from slysoft, it will tell you in the information screen in the config what playlist is the correct one. Beware, there are some playlists that are dupes of the correct one and eac3to (clownbd uses this app) will remove (I think) the dupes. you can force eac3to commandline to use a particular playlist, tho.

For my disc it was playlist 565. To reiterate what sundansx posted, if you use anydvdhd the proper playlist is listed in the information screen (open the settings window, click status and make sure you are looking at the correct media drive if you have multiple). I then backed up the full blu-ray to my hard drive and finally went into the BDMV/playlist folder and removed all the playlists except for the correct one.

If you prefer to use MakeMKV to have an MKV file at completion, follow the instructions above and then use MakeMKV in file mode and navigate to the index.bdmv file in the BDMV folder on your hard drive.

MakeMKV in disc mode did not work for me, it detected the correct playlist as a duplicate and removed it as an option.
