HD-PVR incorrectly detecting input video format and resolution

I have recently changed cable boxes, and now on some of the non-HD channels, the HD-PVR is getting confused about the video format.
One channel is recorded (according to View Recording Detail) as MPEG2-TS[h.264 16:9 720p@60fps. If I display the cable box component output directly on the TV, the TV reports the signal as 480i. The signal played back by Sage is in a 1:1 aspect ratio in a small square in the middle of the screen (using the HD-300). If I run the SageTV client on the server, the video is displayed as 4:3 in the 16:9 frame. So maybe this has something to do with the HD-300?

A different channel records on the HD-PVR with files reported as MPEG2-TS[h.264 4:3 480i@29.97. When I display the cable box video on the TV it reports 720p. This channel plays back at 16:9 from SageTV.

Where are the settings for controlling HD-PVR interpretation of incoming video resolutions and formats? Or similar settings for the HD-300?

I think it is possible to set the cable box to output at 1920x1080i for all source material regardless of actual resolution. However that would mean that the HD-PVR is recording everything at 1920x1080i. For source material that is 480p, it seems that would be inefficient.

With the previous cable box (8300HDC), it output the same resolution as the source programming. The HD-PVR was able to record in the proper resolution and format. Why would the HD-PVR have trouble doing the same thing with the 4250HD?

The problem come's in the forum of a commercial ads which never the proper resolution so box auto switch on the fly like one min it 1080i the next min it 480i or even 720p all on same channel so boom HD-PVR and Colossus gose nuts that why it very good idea to use a fix video resolutions output.
