Recommended video format

I have a lot of sources in interlaced form. I want to compress them.
Which codec is better:
mpeg4
or appletv

Both codecs are pretty good, it's a matter of video and audio bitrate settings. The MPEG4 setting in SageTV has a Deinterlace settng, not sure about the AppleTV setting though. You can also create your own settings and specify the bitrate. There's a thread on this forum that explains it, use the search.
