Sage can't play files after Vista update

Hey, today I was unable to get anything to play on SageTV, just the circling arrows, even though at midnight last night everything was fine. The same files played fine when accessed directly (not through Sage). I tried a few things (restoring defaults for sage.properties, for example), then tried restoring Vista (Home Premium) to it's previous state - it had updated itself at 2AM. After the restore, Sage can again now play all my files (all are mp4s or divx/avis), so I turned off automatic updates.

So it's fine now, but I'd be curious to find out what security update microsoft deployed, where they think it's necessary to stop certain programs from accessing h.264 encoded files...

Check to see if you have Java set to auto update that could also be your problem. If so then remove the current version of Java with Sage completely stopped and try to reinstall it (Java) again. Then turn off the auto update for Java.

I personally turn off both Java and Windows automatic updates on my SageTV servers. I only have my PC's check for updates so that I can install them at my leisure.
