of course I can say that NOW that everything is working
well everything but my case... but that is not a sage issue... actually, anyone have a spare CNC mill laying around they don't want anymore? or anyone have any opinions on the Tormach 1100? but that is a bit off topic I guess...

well, I finally got back to this... procrastination is a wonderful thing... and a tricky art to learn to do correctly... but anyway, it seems that most everything is working...
ended up with a semi custom case:
note, still has tape residue/dust/stuff in this pic

pic with flash off just to hightlite my logo and VFD

anyway, the only issue I have now (at least I think it is the only issue) is that it wont play HD DVD or blueray MKV's... I am guessing I just need to find the proper codec or something?

Sage's internal splitter doesn't play nice with .mkv's. I have all mine converted to BDMV folders so Fuzzy's external player plugin will use my external player. Works like a charm. Or you can use the external programs plugin to make a batch file you can run to open the player as well. Sage's internal player works fine for TV, but I use MPC-HC for movie playback.

I'm not entirely clear on the difference between a splitter and a codec, so forgive my potential ignorance here. I have all my Blu-rays ripped to MKV containers and they play back just fine in Sage. Is it because I'm using different codecs/splitters (e.g. ffdshow, haali)?

A splitter is what takes the video and audio and sends it to the decoder (codec). Sage has one built in that doesn't get along with .mkv's all that well for some reason. I gave up getting it to work and just use an external player. I also converted to .m2ts files because the splitter is different. That one works properly. If you disable the .mkv splitter you break youtube so there are downsides. Plus sage doesn't like external splitters all that much.
