Optimize the USB Hauppauge HD-PVR

I've read somewhere but i cannot find it now, that it is possible to make the Hauppauge HDPVR USB look crispier or sharper. Is that possible? my HDPVR is working like a champ, but the image is a little bit washed out, not much but i'd like to make it a little bit sharper. Is that possible?

Playing back how? If you're playing back on PC, playing back recordings with FFDShow codec you have options for increasing sharpness which works really well. I do that through Zoom Player... not sure if you can do it through FFDshow codec running through Sage though.

It should also be noted that there are some tweaks that can be made inside the sageTV properties files to max out the HD-PVR's recording bitrate (13megabits+), which doesn't seem to be set by default. I believe this was the thread I was following;
