padell,
All my lockups are related to the 350. My system is perfectly stable with just 250's. I've never had a lockup with just the 250's. What other options are there? Even when the multiple-tuner SnapStream comes out, it won't support the 350. MythTV supports the 350, but you have to use XMLTV. GBPVR does 350 output, but I don't know if they're ever planning to go commercial. |

FYI I get the same behavior with GBPVR in my Intel box with the 350.
I am curious as well, maybe he found something new to try. |

GBPVR (freeware) uses the OSD on the 350 output (and they were one of the first people anywhere to do that!!), although I'm not using that output currently (see previous post about ultimately using an HDTV output on my ATI card).
There are also other options that are not sold to the public, but readily available with a little work. Although I do not condone that type of activity... The option set for the different alternatives varies, but if you have stable recording and playback, who really cares.... |

MLBDUDE, GB-PVR works fine w/my setup (Intel D865GLC). I haven't used the 350 output on this latest computer that I just built, but my lockups and shutdowns were not related to the 350 output.

Ok, we thought you found something that worked stable with the 350 TV out. Everything else works better in Sage than any others I have seen so without that I have not motivation to change right now.
Thanks for replying! |

No. If you read my previous posts in this thread, my lockups were not part of the TV out scenario. I thought they were related to the drivers or the remote, as others believed, and I had different levels of improvement w/various drivers....
....but they all still locked up randomly when just watching liveTV or a recorded show. (They also locked up predictably when using the fast forward and rewind buttons aggressively...) I'm going to miss the awesome functionality of Sage, but I need something stable... Phil |

It took me a while to figure out he wasn't talking about 350 out. I admit my mind wrote in 350 out for his posts. I had forgotten this wasn't the "350 out issue" thread.
OK, so not counting Calgar(I'm sorry)... You'd say these drivers are worth me finally putting my PVR350 into my P4C800-E Deluxe MB(it's a Intel 875P chipset). I've been holding off due to all of the issues with the 350 and intel setups. But from reading this thread it seems that they may be more controlable for many users. Is that a fair assessment? I know YMMV. I should just put the 350 in and test. But that means moving my entire SageTV setup. This is no small task and then there's the wife to deal with. But with some confirmation from those who tried these drivers I'll probably do it. Thanks, /justme |

Do you have drive imaging software & a place to store such an image? Create the image, do all the testing you want, then if it doesn't work, but all hardware back to where it was & restore the backup image.

Oh yeah, the new system was imaged as soon as it had all driver updates and Windows patches installed. This is standard practice for me and my setups. I always make a small FAT32 partition at the end of my drive and put a Drive Image there as soon as the base OS, drivers, etc are setup properly. But thanks for the advice.
It's really a matter of moving one system(case not monitor) to one location to test. It basically means swapping the two computers I have. And then moving all the PVR cards over into the one that would then be closest to my AV rack. If it didn't work out then it's put everything back in the old system and return both to their locations. It's just a bunch of trouble is all, the software restore is the easy part. But from reading over this thread I'll probably try it out this weekend. It certianly seems much more promising than before. /Justme |

Better Hard Drive Image Program
I’ve used Disk Image since the early 90’s, Ghost Image in the late 90’s, the last year I've exclusively used Acronis True Image.
True Image will read/write to NTFS partition and across networks effortlessly. Mike |

Ok I made it a Note/Sticky. I'd like to edit the thread title to indicate it may help with 350 issues. It seems this is true for many users(and no I still haven't had a chance to put my 350 in yet. ). Do you guys think this is accurate? I'd also like to unstick the other driver. Anyone here experience anything bad by moving to this driver from the one Narflex posted and stickied?
