I use both Ghost and Acronis. I finally updated my Ghost program. I was using Ghost version 9 on one system and version 10 on another. Recently, I bought 3 copies of Ghost version 15. I don't know if it would technically work to run the same copy on more than one computer. I bought 3 copies of Ghost to run it on 3 computers.

I do periodic images with Acronis. Recently, I tried setting up Acronis to do monthly full images, and incremental daily images. The Acronis incremental image file sets should be very small, but were about the same size as an Acronis full image.

So, now I do a manual full image with Acronis about every month or two, just like I did before. Plus, I have a Ghost scheduled monthly full image and Ghost scheduled daily incremental images.

I've tested recoveries with both products, and they both work. Although I prefer the GUI interface of Ghost over Acronis, and the fact that the Ghost incremental images are much smaller than a full image.

Both image folders are located on a secondary SageTV server drive. The image files are automatically copied to my unRAID server. I have uploaded an image set to Carbonite, but the transfer to Carbonite takes weeks.

THE best software ever. I have now, one year later tried all other options (mediaportal, fortherecord, xbmc...) an no one comes close to Sagetv.

Please don't let it die !!!!

Wow, this reads like a wake…….

Hands down, SageTV IS the best software ever. Like others, I tried my fair share of options and nothing came close. It was easy to install, did what the creators said it would do, and has the best support team (including this community forum) around.

I really don’t have a “plan B”.

I love my Sage, with 6TB of storage. I'm not looking for another system and will stay with this until somebody can prove to me there is a better piece of software out there. As for the Hopper, just say NO!! I've banked a couple of client licenses and keep my HD300's cooled.....

Macrium Reflect does the basics for free. I used to use Acronis, but found that Macrium Reflect was "good enough."

Believe me, I search every so often to see if something new has come out that is worthy. That is just how I am. I try to stay on top of software and technology. Nothing yet. I am not in a hurry to find a replacement. Sage does what I want when I want. That's all I care about. We are also blessed to have programmers in the community that realize that sagetv is not dead . As far as I am concerned, Sagetv will not be dead till there is one person left using it that says they found something else that is better. I am not sure if that will ever happen. I fully intend to use sage as long as the signal supplied from the cable company can be recorded. After that I will still use it as my media center at the very least. It does Netflix. It does Hulu and Plus. It does clients and placeshifters. Need I say more?
