How does Sage find new OTA HDHR?
I have been using HDHR's with digital cable. I am now testing a new HDHR with OTA. The HDHR works fine with the silicondust software and I have referred to the instructions on their site and these http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34196 that it pointed to. I have shut down sage and restarted it, but can't find a way to add the new HDHR? How does Sage know that new HDHR exists?
This may be posted in wrong thread, meant to post in SageTV software. But having computer issues!

Make sure it's not in the ignore_tuners in the .properties file. But you should be able to go to Video Sources and Add a new tuner and it should just be there. (Not in front of a Sage screen but you should get the idea.)

It did finally show up, may be related to the computer issues I am having.
I did notice that only 1 of the 2 tuners were visible. I suspect that is because I have only dealt with 1 of the tuners with the SiliconDust software. I don't think the Sage Software does as good of job at tuning as the SiliconDust software. Thanks for the reply.

Actually, for OTA, the sage software does all the scanning, NOT the silicondust software. You do have to set them up to be Digital Antenna and SageTV (each) in the silicon dust software, restart sage, and the do the channel scan from there.

The above does appear to be correct. I went back and double checked and the second tuner did appear. I am still not happy with the tuning as done by Sage, but doubt if anything can be done about it at this point. The tuning issue may just be in the preview mode of tuner setup. Just watched a 480i recording and it looks OK. Much more testing to be done.

Sage should not really do anything differently in regard to tuning than the silicondust app does. It simply sends the HDHR the frequency, and the HDHR send back the received digital stream. It may be pickier about what constituted a 'good enough' signal when scanning, but that's a different issue. If it is just the scanning that you find insufficient, you can still manually edit the .FRQ file in the sagetv folder, which is where sage stores the channel - to - frequency data from the scan.
