Sage 6.2.10 can't find Music on network
After upgrading to 6.2.10, none of the UNC paths I setup for music work. I can view videos from network locations, but music doesn't work at all.
For some reason, when I click on the remote folder already setup, it comes up asking if I want to add the file to a playlist but won't open the actual folder. I tried deleting one of the music folders to re-add it however upon adding it I got the error "This folder doesn't exist, create?" and the folder is indeed there. Video files and Pictures on remote drives work fine.....music has stopped for some reason. Anyone have any ideas? |

I have the same problem ever since I switched to the 6.2 betas. I thought it was because my server is on a wireless connection of something.

Yup, UNC paths are not working for me either (for media import directories). I get the same diaglog: 'Directory does not exist. Do you wish to create the directory?'

As I said in my original post, I tried deleting one of the of my directories in Sage to try re-adding it......says it did not exist (and I know it does because it was working fine prior to 6.2)

I understand that also. And that's why I'm thinking something has changed or is wrong with that path because it won't let you delete it. And if you try to specify it and it tells you it doesn't exist I would look again to see if for some reason something has changed on your system to actually change what the path is. There's been a few times I have typed the path thinking I had it right but typed it wrong. I had also shared a drive out differently than what I originally had. Instead of sharing the root of the drive I shared it to a specific directory. Technically it was still there but the share had changed and thus so did the path.

Nothing has changed in relation to my shares. The only thing that has changed is I upgraded from Sage 6.1 to 6.2.
I even tried uninstalling 6.2 to go back to 6.1 however the problem persists. |

Then I can't think of anything else. The fact that you went back from 6.2 to 6.1 and the problem still exists seems to point to something else changing and it not being upgrade-related. Did you do a clean install when you rolled back? Or did you just run the 6.1 installation against the 6.2 upgrade?
I had run all of the betas with my installation and didn't experience this issue. My share goes right to the music folder. \\MAIN\Music2. When I click on folder it gives me a dialog box with one option being to browse it. When I do it shows the current folder as \\MAIN\Music2 with 372 songs. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Gerry

I uninstalled v6.2 and then reinstalled v6.1 overtop of it the existing settings. It obviously has something to do with 6.2 because nothing else changed on my system except that.
It's only the music shares that no longer work. Video shares are fine. |

Not just music
All network shares no longer work for me, Error says unable to find file or something like that.
when I try to re-add my share it says that it's empty. EDIT: Nevermind I remembered what the problem was. Change the service account logon to be the same as an account that has access to your shares. Last edited by sacrament055; 09-23-2007 at 03:44 PM. Reason: solution found |

Shot in the dark here but did you guys remember to have the sage service log in as a user instead of as the local system? Sage defaults to local user when it is reinstalled. Course this only applies if you use the service.

Network Drives not working for Music & Photo Imports
I am having the same problem since upgrading from 6.1 to 6.2. It's not the Service logons either. I checked those and everything is fine. The network paths show up in the import but nothing is getting imported. I would see this as a bug but why are others not having the same problem? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Either "\\Machine\share" or "Mapped Drives" do nothing. All other apps that use these shares work just fine, and so did Sage v6.1. The Video imports all still work fine and they use network shares as well, which is why I am considering this a bug. Bill Last edited by billvan; 09-24-2007 at 04:02 AM. |

The real strange thing is that the Video Shares (which are on the same machine as music) in SageTV work just fine. It's just the Music and Photos that are not showing up. Just to eliminate the network/shares as the problem, I imported a local music folder and the Music still does not show up. Thanks, Bill |

Please see the various posts above. Some of the same symptoms. You say this time you have turned on the service. That user ID must have a password or it won't work. Also sometimes it just won't take using the java app in Sage. So you may actually have to go into the Control Panel in Windows and go to the Services and set up the user ID through there. After you enter user name and passowr dyou should get a confirmation dialog that says that user ID now has rights to start the service. Or something along those lines. After that all of your shares should work.
