Forced Subs in BR folder structure
I rip BRs as complete folder structures (just copy with Slysoft) and then playback with HD300. Tonight I went to watch "Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol" and the forced subs weren't working.
I had to turn on all the subs and sit with text on the screen through all the English speaking parts too. The last time I had this issue was back before Sage went hooves-up with "Avatar" and it was corrected with an update. Obviously there are no further updates coming so this is frustrating. I am running the most recent version of sage server and the last Beta firmware that is known to work well with DTSHDMA on the 300. Has anyone else been having issues with forced subs in a similar setup? Can anyone confirm that MI-GP worked for them with just a straight up disc rip? I'd hate to have to buy a Dune player just to watch BR rips that I bought the HD300 to playback, but getting part way into a show just to realize you should be understanding what the people are saying is very frustrating. -Suntan |

Forced subs have never worked for me. Most of the time I work around this problem by ripping the blu ray with MakeMKV, and only ripping the forced subs with it. I still have to manually enable the forced subs, but at least I don't have to watch all the other subs too.

Yeah, I really don't want to have to do that. I'd much rather just be able to rip the entire disc (or put the disc in the drive with AnyDVDHD running.)

Don't know if you got this fixed or not but I just did MIGP...
Most forced subtitles work just fine, but MIGP did a it weird. They put the "all" subtitles in one PGS (subtitle stream #1) and the "forced" in a separate stream (#2). Up until this one I've only seen one subtitle track but some subtitles are labeled forced, and they show up all the time, the others won't show unless you turn on subtitles, I think Avatar was like that. I think the problem was HDX00 weren't paying attention to the "forced" labels and required a fix so they would show. I think District 9 was the same way. You might check to see if there are any additional tracks, in the "subtitle language", while playing the movie, that's how I found mine.
