usb to firewire adapter?
Hi all
I'm considering experimenting with firewire channel changing, but my mobo doesn't have a firewire port. Rather than install a card (low on room!), i was looking for a usb to firewire converter. Obviously, the speed wouldn't be firewire, and it wouldn't work well for real firewire devices, but i figured it would be fine for a low speed thing like channel changes. Can't find one! Does such a thing exist? Alternately, i'll make some room and put in a usb3+firewire card... thanks

Unfortunately I don't believe you'll be able to find such a thing. You'll need to go with some kind of adapter card to get Firewire.

I can't imagine it worked very well. Even though USB has a theoretically higher speed FW ends up having a higher throughput because of USB's overheads. Putting FW over USB would impede performance.

Yeah, it isn't a performance thing, at least in my case. Just looking to send a few bytes to a cable box.
ah well, i guess i'll shift some things around and make some room! Thanks Eric
