dead HD-PVR ... move to HDHR3-CC?
One of my HD-PVRs (rev 1) finally died.
I used it to record from a cable box. Is there a better product for that now? Maybe the HDHR3-CC ? ... Three Tuner HDHomeRun PRIME Is that a stable setup now on Windows 7? Thanks for any feedback. |

I can tell you that I've been having a really rough time getting a Ceton PCIe card to work with SageDCT, so I finally gave up for now. Additionally, if your cable company has any of the content flagged as copy once, that you will not be able to watch that channel using SageDCT. There just isn't much for directions on how to properly set it up, that I can find anyways.

I haven't had any problems using the Prime and SageTV. The BIG thing to look out for is how your cable company handles the copy protection. If they set the copy once flag on the channels you wan to record with SageTV, you're out of luck

Check your power supply for the HD-PVR, the Nebit ones go bad. A multimeter should show a little over 5 volts output. Replacements are about $10 from Hauppauge, or a D-Link adapter on Amazon is about $5.

It turns on, but the "yellow" initialization light never triggers. Windows does not recognize it as a HDPVR. I tried applying various hauppage updates to it .. but it never "boots" properly. We'll see if it slightly underpowered due to the power supply. |

Could you please point me to a solid set of instructions, step by step, of how exactly to set up the Digital Cable Card tuners with SageDCT?

I have two HD-PVRs that were bought in the first six months of introduction of the product. They have both failed recently due to PS problems so I am betting that is your problem.

I also bought my HD PVR very early and had the ps go bad. I found that an unused Buffalo ethernet converter ps worked just fine as a replacement. So, check around your spare parts box before spending more $.
