Sage Tuner with VGA or DVI input?

Are there any tuners supported by Sage that have VGA or DVI inputs?

I'm hoping to use the output of a PC running high quality radar software (GRLevel3 or Storm Predator) and watch it on any HDTV using Sage.

PC with Radar Software>> Tuner with DVI or VGA >> Sage Server >> extenders to HDTVs

I know I can use a video card with HDMI, convert it to component and use a Colossus or HD-PVR... That may be overkill (and higher cost) to dedicate one of these devices to a single channel. Ebay has tuners like EZcap with component in, but Sage doesn't appear to support them.

Thanks,

Larry

Just get a video card with built in HDMI or Component and use the Colossus or HD PVR, either type of card can be had cheap. Or are you saying the HD PVR/Colossus are too expensive. If that's the case your only option is going to be something with S/Video. You need a card with a hardware video encoder and those for HD sources aren't cheap.

Hauppauge has a new device, the USB Live2... component inputs to a USB port. I doubt Sage/Google (Saggle?) will ever provide support for it. Too bad, they are inexpensive compared to an HD-PVR.

As a workaround, I found I could save a sequence of images with GRLevel3 and use the slideshow to play them. I lose the hi resolution, the pause/rewind, but at least it's working.

In the meantime I'll keep looking for something better.

The USB Live2 doesn't NOT have component inputs. It is an SD capture device, with S-Video, or composite video input.

Yup, you're correct... Dyslexia saw 'composite' and interpreted it as 'component'.

Will probably not be supported by Sage anyway.

Not true, if it follows vfw standards (likely) it probably WOULD work with sage.. I just see no reason to try, as there are plenty of SD capture devices out there that we KNOW work..
