Problems with YouTube .FLV playback via Sage

Has anyone been having issues with stuttering and timeline craziness when watching .FLV based YouTube videos?

Whenever I try to watch a .FLV based video off Youtube via my HD300 or HD100, the Timeline acts very stange and the playback is very choppy. The timeline immediately indicates the whole video has downloaded (turns green), trying to go back or forward causes the timeline to bob back and forth, and the video chops up sporadically. When trying to play a .FLV on the Sage Server itself - the time line also immediately indicates the video has completely downloaded, but the video won't play at all - just gets stuck right at the beginning.

This only happens on .FLV files, .MP4 based videos are flawless.

The last changes I've made were the Weather Icons/Service switch, and before that the fix for YouTube "download not found" or some such error.

Thanks!

I have been experiecing the same kind of behaviour about a month or so ago (my kids told me about the glitch!) I searched the forum and since I found nothing (until now), I tought it was something on my server!

I've had similar issues over the past week, though I just thought it was my internet connection as I have had the same videos playing fine.

I had this problem occur this weekend and it seems if I pause for a few seconds it will play smoothly for a few seconds then start stuttering again. I then paused longer and play back stuttered after a few seconds again.

Seems like this is going to require an STV update to fix.

Thanks for the feedback folks - glad to know it is not just my setup. I probably noticed the glitch about a month ago, but figured it was just my setup needing a reboot or such at the time. Since then, I've rebooted and still no joy.

I've tried the pause thing too - thinking maybe the "playing" was getting too close to the portion of the file still downloading, due to network slowness or such (which does happen occassionally) - but it made no difference. I can pause for 5 minutes, let it rip again, and stuttering within seconds. And again, it is only for .FLV based files, .MP4 based files are golden....

Hopefully there is a fix - if enough folks are having the same issue...

Got the exact same issue.
It appears to be a codec issue with newer flv files.

Having to convert files to get them to play.

Same problem, same symptoms. I just upgraded my main OS drive to a SSD (OCZ Vertex 3). I was having random delays during playback and/or while navigating menus (for between 2 and 15 seconds, sometimes as often as every 10 mins, sometimes not for hours). Too early to say if that's fixed yet, but I tried some youtube hoping it would fix that problem as well and no luck.

I have just raised a ticket for this as no-one appears to have raised one.

Will let you know what the response is when I have it.

No reply from Sage as yet, not looking hopeful.

will keep you posted if anything received.

Maybe if everyone puts in a request and put some weight behind the issue we could get something done.

YouTube videos have been working for me. If you can give me a specific example, I'll try to check it out.

Try rizzle kicks mama do the hump

You tube works perfectly for most videos but, it appears that recent official music videos are using a slightly different .flv file, it is these that don't play back.

Kony also seemed to have an issue.
I tried to watch it on an HD300, but to much stuttering.

I was able to reproduce the error with those videos & created STV updates that should fix it; see: STV v7.1.9.7, 2012031001.
