Narflex announced the purchase on June 18th. On June 21st Geektonic posted an interview with Jeff and there he said guide data would be available for at least a year. So June 18th or June 21st, depending on how you look at it.
They did say "at least a year" so you never know. Hopefully we'll hear something before then.

Sooo, when does EPG stop?
Just wondering the life expectancy of us being able to receive the EPG. I thought it ended sometime the end of this year.
Just try to figure out my next move when it does end. Thanks * merged *

Check out http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57265 as a replacement whenever the EPG data from Sage ends.
Or you could switch over to it anytime between now and then. |

Jeff (narflex, Sage CEO) posted just last week in the community section (in the "CES" thread) that the EPG will last at least until the end of 2012. edit: graywolf, you just beat me!

but what they were really talking about is the end of SageTV EPG... so in reality, its much much worse... I wonder how they knew??? is google just willfully playing a part of some ancient "End Time" conspiracy? could the google - sage buy out just be a ploy to make sure the Mayan prophecy comes true?

The correct answer is that nobody (not even Jeff) knows when EPG service will end. What we do know is that it will not end anytime this year. What happens next year is anybody's guess, and anybody who says it will end a year from now is just guessing.
My guess is that before the year is up we'll have some news from Google about what their plans are and what our migration path will be going forward. But (like everybody else) I'm just guessing.

I was having a Rick Perry moment. I should have said "at least thru the end of 2012".

Where to get EPG data
I've been using SageTV for like 6 years. But with SageTV being purchased by Google. Whats gonna happen to my EPG data. I heard SageTV was going to continue to provide EPG data for a while. But what happens after that. Is there anyway to import EPG data from some other EPG provider? I want to continue using SageTV for a long time to come.

Continuation of EPG data?
I'm been happily using my existing Sage setup this past season and was wondering if the powers-that-be decided to continue to shower blessings upon us and keep the EPG data flowing for another year?
Has anyone heard anything about the status of the EPG? |

last I heard was they were going to keep supplying until the end of 2012 at least, and beyond that seems to be a mystery of sorts.

Hopeless?
Soooooooo.... it's been almost a year. I guess the guide data will probably disappear soon? I haven't been following that closely lately, have there been any positive developments or posts from Narflex?

Slugger has a plugin to get EPG data outside from Sage source, so Sage would live on whether Google continues EPG data or not. Just like those outside North America get their EPG from a source other than Sage |

One month left?
We are 11 months into the promised 1 year support of EPG, these forums, etc. Has anyone heard if there will be an extension?
Sorry if this is answered elsewhere. Thanks. |
