wiz.bin from v7 usable on v6 ?

Hi,

Does anyone know if you can use a v7 wiz.bin on v6 ?

Long story short; upgraded to v7 and experienced an extender hang / freeze problem. Tried troubleshooting on v7 with no success, reverted back to v6 and no extender hangs.

Unfortunately, v6 is not picking up the TV recordings made by v7 as TV recordings, instead they show up as video's. My first inclination would be to replace the wiz.bin but i don't know if they are backwards compatible.

Suggestions would be welcome.

Motu.

Bad news - They are not backwards compatible.

Good news - Sage makes a backup of the wiz.bin before it upgrades it from v6 to v7. Look for it in the Sage install directory.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did use that backup but its missing all the recordings over the last two months, while i was troubleshooting on v7. The hope was that there was some way to import that metadata from the v7 wiz.bin into the v6 wiz.bin.

No way that I know of to automatically import the metadata from the v7 wiz.bin

If you use the Web app in V7 and export XML files for the recordings you could then probably import that XML back in V6. Only way I know of anyway and it still might not work if the XML contains fields that the V6 Web app can't handle.
