Weather not working on HD200

'Weather' has stopped working on my HD200 main menu. Is it just me, a problem with weather.com, or a result of Google buying sagetv? Any way to fix it?

Assume you are talking about standalone mode on the HD200 - correct? You must not have seen this thread. But not a result of Google buyout but a fix to standalone mode is not likely and that IS a result of the google buyout. For extender mode there is a fix see this thread.

the problem with old threads...

That's the problem with using old threads for new problems. A new thread should have been started in both places, one for 'standalone' mode here and one in 'extender' mode in the Sage Software forum.

So, to summarize, weather.com info is not available to Sage Extenders in Standalone mode any more and we're SOL for that function. Thanks a lot, Google.

Actually that was weather.com that stopped providing the information. Make sure to direct your anger to the appropriate company.

Weather.com stopped providing free weather info to SageTV years ago. SageTV presumably had a license arrangement with them to use the info. When Google bought SageTV, SageTV didn't ensure that Google would continue the service, and there's no way for us users to switch to another service. So, yes, I think the blame goes squarely to SageTV and Google and not at all to weather.com.

This is the letter that went out to all registered users of the weather.com XML service. They stopped providing this service to everyone that used it-just not Sage. Paid or free they stopped providing that XML data. Has nothing to do with Google or Sage TV in particular. They stopped providing the xml data to everyone.

Anyone know of a workaround for getting either weather or youtube streaming to work in stand alone mode? Is it possible for users to flash the HD200 to make the fix they made to extender?

No. Not that I'm aware of. In extender mode the fix is made either to the core or the STV. In standalone mode it would need to be new firmware.
