shaw blocking recording

hi,

I was attempting to record some of my favorite shows that air on globaltv & are available on the VOD. When I viewed the recording all I could see was the interactive programming screen with show info & error code stating the the channel should be available shortly.
Seems they are prepping for the free period of watching those shows to end. They offer back episodes for 2 weeks on the VOD which they intend to start charging $1 + per view. I don't know if this is limited to shaw owned channels or what?
I guess our days of DVR are numbered. I for one don't want to use or be forced to purchase the shaw dvrs. I guess I will end up cancelling my cable tv. I find their greed unpalatable. Yes I understand it is to protect copyrights but this is ridiculous when I just want to watch shows once like the old days of vcrs.
