Phoenix release 405

Changes :

1) Two new landing zones. (Sage and Metro)
2) Fanart backgrounds for landing zones.
3) Music OSD - option added to always show the album cover during playback.
4) Music OSD - Fanart backgrounds supported as a wallpaper type. Note that this adds Fanart backgrounds, if available, to the music backgrounds, and biases the random selection towards artist backgrounds. But you will still see some of the generic music art.
4a) Fixed green bar or right edge of music OSD screen (not everyone was seeing this)
5) Universal Media Browser :
  • Select to Browse : this setting has been there for a while, but only active in the Single List. It is now used for both single list and banner flow. Basically this toggles the behaviour of the Right and Select keys - when enabled, Select navigates deeper into the VFS, and Right shows you the Detailed info for the folder (where you can delete all, or set all watched, etc).
  • Tall List : this is variation on Single List
  • New Option to hide the folder icon in the UMB.
6) Landing Zone Menu updates :
  • "Now Playing" item added to TV and Video (only visible when there is a video file going) and Music (only visible when there is music playing) - this is a menu item that gets you back to the playback screen.
  • "Play DVD" item added to Video menu - plays a physical DVD on clients if there is one in the drive.
7) Lots of little optimizations
8) Detailed Info popup for Folders tweaked so that it works better - you'll see this more often (see 'Select to Browse' above)
9) Music Browser
  • Alpha Filter support - hit numbers to filter the list down to items starting with a particular letter.
  • Action Menu support - Sort / Group on the fly are available. These are not sticky yet. Filters are not supported here yet either.
10) Weather Background flakiness fixed.
11) Action Menu - Grouping has an option now from the action menu to Keep or Prune folders - this gets rid of folders with a single item and promotes that item.
12) A bunch of other stuff.

btl.

I am not seeing this update available on my Linux server. Patience or problem?

Patience. It'll be out today, but there's a lot of today left

Build 405 is there now... I've loaded it from the repository on my system and it appears to be working well.

The release notes in the repository didn't get updated - maybe that's what you are seeing?

I see 405 there.

My apologies for not updating the release notes in the plugin I need to make a checklist before I post

BTW... I've noticed some odd behaviour in the plugin manager. Sometimes I have to completely exit the plugin and then go back into "Installed" plugins before it shows an update. It took a couple tries for me to see the updated Phoenix in there.

I noticed the plugin update while connected to placeshifter. I updated it, and restarted, now placeshifter doesn't connect. Just sits on the "connecting to the server" screen. Maybe I shouldn't have updated from placeshifter!

I just noticed that my custom views are giving me errors now in BMT. They were working fine before the update. Here's the error I'm getting in BMT.

Unknown xml
unknown source: sagevideoimportsv7

None of my custom views show up in BMT post update.

A couple of issues and things noticed

1.) First I think you guys made some changes to the x-vfs.xml or maybe the vfs.xml files that ship with phoenix and a lot of users included myself had some custom views based off what was in there. This caused our custom vfs that we create and store in /userdata to have load failures. Darlicious, this is probably your issue. I had to go in and look at what was in x-vfs and make some adjustments to my custom vfs file.

2.) You guys seem to have implemented some image/loading/caching improvements as grid views now perform better on my hd300, thank you for this.

3.) Grid view issue - On first load of a grid view, I notice that the posters will not show, unless I start scrolling or moving around the cursor and then they will load. I will only see maybe 1 poster or no poster and just fan art and summary info until I start scrolling around causing the screen/posters to be refreshed..

4.) SEVERE Grid view issue 2 - When selecting a poster in grid view, I'm not getting any options or information on the movie, it's just showing "Running time: 0 minutes". I think i'm going to have to revert until this gets resolved. (We use grid view heavily for TV and movies )

Oddly enough, this update fixed displaying of my recording conflicts icon.

...Yes I know, chances are its related to a conflict of this or that, which just highlights the issues w/ the current system we have in place.

Exclamation VFS.XML

Sorry, I should have noted as well, that we got rid of the vfs.xml and that we only have the x-vfs.xml. (I put a post in the bmt forum, but not here )

First a bit of history...
vfs.xml was an older vfs file that I created a long time ago for bmt, but later, bailio added a lot more structure (and better naming) to another file, x-vfs.xml. So, for some time we running in parallel, which meant lots of duplication views, etc. Since we are still in beta, we felt it would be best to remove the vfs.xml and move forward with the better, x-vfs.xml file.

You can still download the older vfs.xml if you want, but it would be better to move to the x-vfs.xml names.

I should have made this very clear from the start, so sorry for the headaches that this caused

Is this just on movies or on TV and movies?

Well I learned a few things, so that's good!

In case anyone else runs into this problem, the new view-source name for "sagevideoimportsv7" is "pheonix.view.default.videofolders"

That took me a while to figure out. Once I swapped the name in my menus though, everything started working again.

It is on Both, no matter on what view I use to supply the "content" Grid functions incorrectly as I noted..

As another issue, the "Tall" browser was not added to menu editing (yes i know the menu editing functionality is still very beta) as a browser choice. What string do I put in there in the XML to use this view?

*nevermind figured out the string..
