Well, I'm trying all of this on the local machine. I'm only using RDP because the server is in the basement. I'll post what I see in the SageTV directory if that helps.
Code:

Yeah, I meant that you should attach the log file to your post. It will be the sagetvclient_0.txt in the sagetv\sagetv folder.

There is no such file anywhere on the installation.

Do you have debug logging enabled? Are you running sage as a service? See if there is one that says sagetv_0.txt

If that one isn't there you need to enable debug logging. It is in detailed setup under advanced.

I ran sagetv from RDP, which works.
I then shut it down, rebooted, and ran it locally which doesn't work, got a 5x error. I am attaching all of the logs I found.

Thank you got looking at this. I am running out of days in demo time sadly.

What are you running in demo mode? Are you saying you don't already own SageTV? Because you know you can no longer purchase SageTV licenses.

When it starts up, it tells me I have 21 days to try it. I download it from one of the forums here. I wasn't aware that it was no longer available only that google bought it, like every other bloody large company keeps buying up everything.

So you're saying this is now no longer available in ANY way???

Unfortunately no, it isn't. Unless something changes you are not able to purchase a sagetv key at this time.

OMG, how ridiculous. Is there no way of using it at all?
If not, do people have any other recommendations so that I can get my own DRV working? SageTV looked so promising, it's upsetting to learn this news.

The thread goes on and on and on. Lots of ideas, nothing too specific about anything.

First of all I would get rid of the MKV splitter and use SagetV's spliiter... by making sure this setting is set to 1. Also EVR can be installed in XP but does not perform well so I would not use that as a renderer. Always when trialing SAGETV always start with the defaults do not try to get fancy with extra splitters renders etc...

Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\Common\DirectShow]
"EPGFlowRateCtrl"=dword:00000004
"EnableSageTVStreamDemux"=dword:00000001
"EnableStandardFilePlayback"=dword:00000001
Then if you still have problems after cleaning up the splitter etcc... re-install sagetv and modify to re-register the filters.

I uninstalled this software. I did it based on a blog I found on how to install sagetv.

The OS is XP MCE 2005, SP3 running on a quad 3Ghz, 4GB server. The addon cards are Hauppauge.

So far, I've only changed minor things in trying to get it to work. I've tried a few times to reinstall back to defaults with no luck so far. I even removed everything from the registry to be safe.

>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\Common\DirectShow]

I see this in the reg, just not sure what you're saying I should do with it.

I've removed the splitter software, will try stv and if nothing yet, will uninstall it again, reboot, reinstall see what happens.

No change, same behavior. STV works fine over RDP but doesn't work locally.
That's really weird.

You should try

Video Renderer VMR9

MPeg2 Video Decoder Filter SageTV

3D Accelleration enabled

It's gone, I've nuked it. Why spend all this time on something I can't get a code for anyhow. Kinda futile.

I do thank everyone for your help however.

Interesting. I installed BayondTV and it's doing exactly the same thing.
It's as if there is a configuration item somewhere on this system that makes it think it doesn't have any audio card or something along those lines.

Yet, weirdly enough, audio and video always work over RDP.

What the heck???
Either way, even if I figure this out, if there is no option to purchase a code for STV, kind of at a loss.
