UPDATE

Despite the fact that my clients are working while my extenders are not, I couldn't shake the feeling that this might be a nework issue. I hooked one of my extenders directly to the server using a x-over cable and she worked beatifully. I was able to watch live tv and browse through the guide and other menus with out any freeze-ups. I was actualy hold the button down and letting the guide scroll around and around and never had any issues. If my switch is indeed the culprite, this will be the second one that has done so. Niether one failed entirely on me, I just started getting sluggish sagetv performance. The one i'm using right now is a NETGEAR 16 port model# GS116. Does anyone know if there is a firmware update or anything that could fix my problem, or do I need to stat looking for another switch. I'm open to all suggestions, because i'm tired of buying switches every 2 years.

I thought you had tested the network aspect? No matter. It amazes me how many issues with sage turn out to be network related. If you have problems with those switches and you need that many ports it may be time to invest in a cisco switch or another business class switch.

I had tested it before, but the fresh install of sagetv and related drivers may have taken care of other issues as well. It's also possible that I didn't have the right cables rerouted (I have many). I also felt that the fact that the clients were working proved that the network was good. Right now i've got the extenders and server running off a little 4 port dlink router and everything is working smoothly. I wonder if forcing the server NIC to GB mode instead of auto might clear things up. It was operating in GB mode though (according to task manager).

Kind of a side question ...

Do you have release notes for the 29186 prerelease drivers you found? I found the drivers as well but it came as a exe file - sometimes when they release prerelease drivers they are in a zip file which contains release notes.

Thanks.
