New Sage user

Hi,

I have only used Sage 2.0 for about 2 hours total, probably, out of my 15 day trial.. (Been pretty busy lately!) Anyhow, I was pretty impressed with how configurable it really is... I own a ShowShifter 2.x license (from about 1.5 years ago??) and a SnapStream PVS license (from whenever 3.0 came out).. I tried Sage back at 1.4 and really didn't like the interface, nor the fact that it was Java based... (I've had BAD experiences with Java before)... Anyhow, I've finally gotten over the Java thing and love the new look for 2.0...

So, I just ordered my Sage 2.0 license from pcalchemy.com, having read good things about them elsewhere... Only now I'm guessing that they don't have instant order fulfillment (as I've gotten emails from them, but nothing with a key), so I'm stuck reading the forum about all the great stuff you can do with SageTv, but still running with Beyond TV.

Anyhow - Just wanted to drop in and see what the community here was like.

Paul

Welcome. Sage 2.0 has replaced my Tivo for about four months and counting. I am very happy and hope you will be to.

It is up and running... I'm having a bit of trouble getting used to the navigation system.... Things don't seem quite as consistent as I would think...

I think the biggest problem I'm having is with the ATI Remote Wonder, though... I have trouble getting in and out of menus - Generally, I'm not sure what effect a particular button will have.. I've installed the ATI Plugin that another forum member wrote, but am still having these issues...

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to iron things out though... Just a learning curve thing...

The keys to remember are the left and right arrows for moving forward and back through the menu's. Some menus though you need to use the Back command since the left command is used for something else on the menu (you will know). Once you get used to this you will find yourself wishing all applications worked this way.

For pop-ups and OSD's, generally the same button the brought it up will close it.

Once you feel comfortable, check out the new STV's when you get a chance too. They really show what is possible with Sage.

Ok - I'll bite.. What's an STV? I googled for Sage SVT and got stuff about gardening..

If these are customizations, is there a website that catalogs them somewhere?
