wintv pvr350 and tearing

So I've been using sageTV for about a month now and last friday morning, what I think is considered tearning, started to show up. First I thought it was a connection problem but I've played around with it and even connected a different video cable but the problem is still there. It does not appear to be decoding problem as I can watch shows that were recorded before friday and they play flawlessly.

I've tried switching between overlay and vmr9 and played with other settings, somethings seem to make it worse but I can't get it to go away. It kinda seems like the encoder might be going bad, the files it records has the video problems when I watch them in media player.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try?

more info: I checked how svid input looks and it's fine. So it's only the tuner input, and the reception straight to the tv looks fine.

try turning off your local monitor display and see if it stops tearing on your TV
also you may try uninstalling your drivers and reinstalling them
use hcw.clear.exe to do this and use the newest drivers
furthermore is your 350 in a cool place or in a small hot case?

what decoder are you using for playback on your monitor ?
try turning off 3d accleration
and post a picture if possible

here's screen shot, this is at it's worse pretty much. Some channels are better then others.

I did try reinstalling the drivers, and i used the hcw clear to do it, didn't change anything. Looks the same in winTV aswell.

My case is fairly cool. I just opened the case and have a fan blowing in it now but doesn't seem to change anything.

The problem shows up with hardware only decoding, or hardware and on monitor, or just monitor. And as I said in the first post, what I'm seeing is actually recorded in the files. They show up other players like windows media player.

Have you tried the tuner program that comes with the card? It looks as if you have a noisy signal going to the card. I have my signal split four ways, but use an RF amp to do so.

have you tried hooking up a VCR or something like that to see if it does the same thing

it is funny you are the second one to have this issue

I think it might be the card though

well, trying a vcr was a good idea, didn't think of that. but problem is still there. By your best guess... since s-vid input doesn't show this problem, there's something wrong with the coaxial input? Encoder must be work for svid to looks fine correct? I've tried 3 different coaxail cables now and same problem, and none of the cables distort the signal when going to my tv.

anyone know how long the warranty is on the pvr350? heh, having trouble locating the papers.

There was a post stating that they have a 2 year warranty. I seached the Hauppauge site, but found no warranty information. I also checked my paperwork, again no warranty information. When I contacted Hauppauge customer support did not provide any warranty information but did offer to replace my 350, which had the tuner go out. The only cost to me was cost of shipping the 350 to Hauppauge. I do not believe Hauppauge has a written warranty but does it on a case by case basis, so they could stop at any time.

I'm the other one with this problem at the mo. I am e-mailing Hauppauge also - pretty slow process, although they do respond within 24 hours during business hours.
