Sage not scheduling favorites correctly

I am starting to believe that Sage is not scheduling favorites correctly anymore.

I set Deep Space 9 as one of my favorites and i just checked the upcoming recordings and it is not scheduled to record next week, even though it shows up in the TV guide with a white border around it.

What's going on? Why is that happening?

This may be due to SageTV only scheduling recordings 3 days out. You should look at the scheduling_lookahead property and see whats its value is.
Note: This may not be the correct property (I am stuck running 1.4) but looks like it would be.

Sage by default schedules out 72 hours in advance as is mentioned above. To increase this edit your properties file. Or just wait a bit and it will show up. A manual recording is not a scheduled recording and will alwasy show up.

The deep space nine episode is within the next 72 hours. It is a favorite, but does not show up on tha particular day even though it is in the tv guide. it does show up again on the day after. Sage is gonna skip one episode randomly. Why?

Is it in Italics? Are there shows with padding scheduled to record right before or after? Try setting the parameter in your properties file to twice what it is now. Sage could have found conflicts in which case it goes beyond its pre-schedule time for scheduling.

SageTV will display rescheduled conflicts further out than the default 3 days, as far as I know. I would do as suggested above & check for it being marked as Watched already. Also, is the fav set for first runs, reruns, or what? DS9 should all be marked in the EPG as reruns (or whatever the terminology is), so if the fav is set for First Runs, you won't get any recorded. There is at least one entry about this is the FAQ -- it may or may not cover your situation. The lookahead scheduling option is also covered in the FAQ thread.

I have the same issue. I am a brand new user. I have Smallville as my only favorite at this time. It airs two times tonight. If I look in Upcoming Favorites, both episodes are there with white borders. If I look at Upcoming Recording Schedule, they are not set to record. I am set for first run and reruns on all channels.

I *really* have to know why this is like this because this makes the product unusable for me.

Are the show titles in Italics in the program guide?

Nope, no italics, not set watched, not set don't like. I've checked everything I know to check.

It also isn't isolated to this show. I had a list of probably 8-10 favorites set for the last few days and nothing recorded off of them. The only recordings that happened were either manually told to record, or "intelligently" recorded. All favorites were ignored.

I have cleared the list down to one entry (Smallville) and it's still not working.

Update: put Stargate SG-1 in as a favorite and a whole slew of episodes scheduled themselves to record, so it is certain programs or channels or somethng.

Okay, I'm an idiot. Smallville isn't until next week, so that's why they aren't showing up. But I still have several things that should have recorded last night and didn't. They even show in Upcoming Favorites even though they have passed, with no explanation of why they didn't record.

Just in case that needs clarification... a few people have mentioned that shows are getting recorded, but didn't show up in the list of recordings. If they are on your drive, perhaps try exiting & restarting SageTV to see if they show up.

On the other hand, if you are still using the default settings & Intelligent Recording is off, you may have had all favorite recordings deleted when you removed your favorites to test things...

Are all your encoders being ignored for some reason? Did you ever have recordings work?

Recordings work as follows:

Manual, always
Intelligent, always
Favorites, sometimes, no rhyme or reason

I'm also have the same problem where certain shows set as favorites are not recording. For example, I set ER as a favorite to record First runs and Reruns on any channel. Several rerun episodes on TNT are scheduled to record in the Upcoming Recordings menus. However when ER normally airs Thursday night on NBC, nothing is listed to record. It shows up in the Additional Airings menu of the Favorites Options screen, but is not set to record. If I go to Live TV Guid and scroll through to Thursday night, ER is highlighted as a Favorite.

On the other hand, I've also scheduled American Chopper to record with the same settings (First runs and Reruns on any channel) and so far that seems to recorded all airings. Not sure what the deal is here. I'm running SageTV 2.0 final. Any thoughts?
