Suspect they are looking for the Sigma skills that Sage obviously used on the HD100,200,300, presumably they can then push the price further down for GoogleTV 2.0 devices using Sigma chipset.
The second link is interesting, maybe there will be a power plug size extender that only has HDMI output (Network is over the mains) which you would place next to any TV. Coupled with a central server obviously...

I thought Android was already ported to MIPS:

That's not entirely clear. Sage, Google, Adobe, Microsoft, etc., can claim that all they want, but the case law on reselling software is far from clear.

Obviously you'll probably quickly find yourself in moderated status if you tried to sell/transfer keys on these forums, and Google/Sage could probably get things pulled off of eBay if they really wanted, but you're almost certainly not going to find yourself in litigation with Google over reselling your keys.

There won't be a 7.1 (final) release; the 7.1.9 RC is the last one.

The beta WAS finished, that's why there was a release candidate. I'm not aware of ANY bugs found in the RC.. are you? There was very little changed between the 7.1.8 'beta' and the 7.1.9 'RC'. Most likely, if no bugs were found in 7.1.9 RC, they would have just posted up saying that they 'released' 7.1.9 as the current stable. They effectively did just that through brents Q&A yesterday.

I know that, but putting key blacklist code and a check around the LAN for duplicate keys would be a reason to do one. I'm just trying to up my post count so I can get to be a "Sage Icon."

Why would anyone care enough to do that now? If they aren't selling it anyway...

The only new information we gather from that article is:
Quote:
We’re told Google communicates directly with the developers via a private Google Groups message board. This allows the Google team to field questions and allows the developers to help each other throughout the process. According to our source, one of the largest threads on this board is an ongoing argument between the developers and Google in regards to how the “Live TV” app works. Currently, Live TV functions in such a way that allows it to broadcast behind the home screen while you do something else. At this time, developers will not have access to the live TV feed while it’s not in direct focus.

This apparently has become quite a point of contention, we’re told many of the developers earned there way into the program with ideas that directly involved this feature–specifically, the ability to overlay data on top of Live TV or to place Live TV in a smaller window while information is displayed. So far, Google has stated that while they would consider the feature, there are no plans at this point to make it available at the API level, which has upset a number of the developers, forcing some to scrap their original project entirely.
I don't see how that tells us any more about the SageTV acquisition than we knew before.

I think it allows us to speculate that Live TV and exactly the type of functionality Sage mastered on its extenders is a very high priority for developers. Nothing is easier that to just throw money at a problem, purchase proven solution and deliver above and beyond what everybody expected to ensure that you succeed.

The beta versions do not expire. SageTV/Google does not currently have plans relating to posting a final release of V7.1; the current release candidate is of 'release' quality based on SageTV’s prior standards.
