SageTV HD200 External IR Receiver Mod
Hey,
Just posted a howto on Geektonic.com on modifying an HD200 to add an external IR receiver similar to what the HD 300 has.

Thanks. I worked pretty hard in this one to make sure it was as detailed and accurate as possible, knowing that its the kind of mod that you really don't easily reverse and its also not very intuitive what the wiring should be. I hope it helps someone or a many someones. Haven't gotten too much feedback yet though.

Clift,
Thanks for your write up. Inspired me to mod my HD200's and now they are all nicely tucked behind the TV's. Your instructions were 100%. Had a problem initially with Hauppauge type and generic IR receivers not working -- turned out they all required at least 4.5 VDC to work and the HD200 puts out 3.25 VDC. Ordered this http://www.irblaster.info/motorola_rx.html and it worked perfectly!!! Mike from irblaster was instrumental in helping me determine it was a voltage (lack of) problem and recommend the right product. For anyone else wanting to do this using exactly the same product and Clift's instructions the pinout is: 1 - IR Power - Tip of the 1/8" stereo plug 2 - Ground - Sleeve 3 - Signal - Ring I used #30 AWG (wire wrap) which made it easy to solder onto the board. irblaster also has a USB powered IR Repeater that I likely would have used had I not already gone down the other path http://www.irblaster.info/ir_repeater.html Scroll down to mid page, I missed it when I was looking before.
