Can someone tell me for use if the Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCIe can run under XP? I only need if for a little over a month, when I'm going to do a complete overhaul of my dad's SageTV server, and I'll upgrade it to W7.

I don't think the drivers will install on XP.

I also run other DLNA applications and devices on my network as well as Sonos. Can I be getting some kinds of collisions?

Thanks again for the troubleshooting help.
I forgot to mention that I also run two NIC's on my SageTV server where SageDCT is running also. Is it possible that SageDCT is confused by this and keeps jumping between the two of them?

Is there any way to configure SageDCT to only bind to a single network interface or ignore certain interfaces?

Thanks.

All,
About ready to rebuild my dad's server with a Ceton Infinity 4 PCIe.

Which driver and firmware should I get?

Their web site has a 1.5.4304.06-20111017 installer, should I just get that and install? They have a link to a beta, but the rev seems older, not newer???

All,
Install went fine, except for a Comcast screw up. I had one hiccup last night, but I think it was the result of me messing with the network settings.

My dad even managed to fully test the system. 8 recordings at one time!!! (4 cablecard, and 4 HDHR) He even managed to record 20 hours of TV in the last 4 hours of Saturday night!!!

BTW, it shows as a 100mbps network connection, correct? Does it ever use more than 100mbps? (I know it's not a "real" network connect, but how it interfaces with Windows)

All,
I set a Ceton Infinity 4 PCIe up for my dad, but I'm having a problem. When I record with tuners 1 and 3, all is fine, but when I try 2 and 4, it fails.

Using latest SageTV, W7 64x, Latest SagDCT I could fine (2.6.0).

Any suggestions???

Turn on verbose logging and see if there's anything interesting going on.

That seems to fixed it. I turned it on earlier when trying to fix it on my own.

BTW, should I set SageTV to wait until the SageDCT services is running, or do anything else to delay SageTV startup? I've notice that when I reset the machine, it sometimes doesn't "see" all the tuners for a minute or 2. Just asking.

Yes. I should have created the dependency in the installer, just never got around to it.

So, if I set the SageTV server to wait for SageDCT, will that also delay the client (set to run "sleeping in the system tray")? If so, that's easy.

If I need to hold off the client, how would I set that up? (just asking)

Setting the service dependency is not a real good idea. If something is wrong with SageDCT then the sagetv will not start. Unless you never want to use sagetv if your tuners are not available (most still do for stored tv, video, music etc). This is doubly true if you have other tuners like many of us do.

True, not by default. But popping up a requester, or having a gadget that adds this would be nice. I'd much rather have my dad yelling that SageTV was completely down once, than every time I reset his machine! Or babgvant could add some kind of timeout (1 or 2 or 5 minutes?) if he couldn't get to the tuners.

Sure wish M$ would add true delay control for startups and services, instead of the semi-fix they have! With a SSD, the startup programs becomes less of an issue (no disk trashing), but services could still be better handled.

The services should rarely be restarted... so the small delay is not worth addressing at the cost of creating a bigger dependency problem.

I have never in the years of running sagetv seen a service die... same for all the time I've been running SageDCT.

Even when I rarely restart SageTV service independent of SageDCT this presents no problems.

babgvant,

noticed that the most recent version of HDHR Prime firmware is supporting recording via HTTP... any plans to use that instead of RTSP?
