A good interface idea...

Not sure this is the right place or not.

I use Diamond and love it. I have gone through the themes and views and am still looking for the perfect one. I thought I would post it as a suggestion.

The background art is awesome, but frequently gets in the way of navigating or reading information... I would like to see something like the Cover Flow but with all the covers smaller, and moved down to the very bottom of the screen (it is spaced several inches up from the bottom now... even with the alignment set to bottom). That way you could cycle through your Cover Flow and see the entirety of the BG art... perhaps with a box on the right that has the synopsys information. Just an idea.

This is what the info fades are for

for greater flexibilty use smm it is 100% flexible for the most part.

The info fades caused me so much grief with my HD100s that even when I got my HD300 in one room I leave them turned off.. I will revisit them when I am all HD300s or better.

I was a HUGE supporter of SMM a year or so ago. But with Diamond and BMT it does everything I want (almost anyways) That I dont see the need to use it (though I still have it installed). It would be hundreds of hours going through the my movies and manipulating the data to work well. At least the last time I looked at it.

Ortus looked good on the screen shots but I never got it working. To be fair though didn't spend much time on it before I found Diamond.

Basically if the Posters in Cover Flow was dressed to the very bottom, that would be cool.

well it won't happen in diamond because we support the default headers and footers smm doesn't. So they will always occupy the bottom. If MyMovies isn't your thing I understand. Don't know why you would think it takes "hours" but that is your thought If they are named properly it is automatic.

Diamond will never be as dynamic as MyMovies is in view customizations and this is simply for the fact those where a headache in smm and I don't see myself adding that much customization to anything again outside of smm.

I will re-look into the SMM...

Like I said I LOVED it back in the Media Center days My Movies rocked. I was a huge supporter of you integrating it into Sage, posted many times in support of you on that.... and truthfully I felt a little guilty about not using it after all those posts saying how great it would be.

I will re-look at it and see if it will work.

The only reason I say about the hours is that it never seemed to import my series correctly. I had it all in the proper sub directories... and I had to spend much time with the interface telling it that x.mpg was a episode of Y series and season Z. Since then I have gone and added the SxxExx format to most of them so maybe it will work better.

Thanks Plucky and thanks for all the hard work you have done on all of these add-ons.

ya know.... you could dynamically change the height of the headers/footers... I do this in TVE because i dont like the footer at all... so i just change its height to 0 dynamically (with an option so people who like footers still have them :

yes but that is out of the scope of diamond we try to keep with the default as much as possible as well as display stuff in the footers at times.

And some of us are VERY appreciative of that.

Biggest issue with diamond is consistency and that would kill it for me at least.

In the Diamond request thread I have suggested a fanart view, which I think would accomplish what you are asking. I have been very happy with the new views and features of Diamond, which seem to improve after each update. We will just have to wait to see what is next.

+1 For whatever it's worth, It would be nice to have a menu option to hide header and/or footers on diamond menus. Some diamond menus would look much nicer without them.

Headers and footers are personal choice I guess, like plucky said we are supporting them as we rely on the default STV for a lot. Here's a WIP Cover Flow option that may or may not see the light,

Looks great! I would use that option if I had it. I really like that the horizontal white borders are removed above/below the movie posters.

I like it . Is this going to be a new view or option in cover flow for small covers? Either way it seems to be a view that emphasizes the fanart.

It will be an option if I can set it up that way

I am also adding some bling, for a lack of a better word, to the covers and highlights in a couple new themes I'm playing with.

I noticed in addition to manipulating the highlight for active cover (such as a blue glow effect) and removing the white horizontal borders (above/below the posters)....

the number of posters viewable on the same screen has increased (possibly user defined?). I like that a few more posters can be squeezed in Coverflow. Anyway, keep up the great work. I can't wait when the next update is available.
