Hi Everyone
just dropped in to say hello... im a new sagetv guy i was a former BTV user(I had BTV from 2007 ). At any rate, i took this past weekend to test out the latest STV beta with 3 hauppauge colossus's and 4 STV windows clients running on intel atom desktops.. All i can say is WOW... HD content ran so SMOOTH without frame rate loss (this is way better than my BTV setup with HD-PVRs)! I'm impressed! The only issue i had was when i tried to add my hvr-1600 then STV would get unstable (im not worried im sure it will be fixed soon). Cant wait for more betas!!!

Welcome to the forums, I think you'll like Sage. There are many BTV converts here (includding myself) who will help you.

As with any new system, the first thing to learn is the "lingo" and TLAs (Three Letter Abreviations).

You will be confused if you refer to Sage as STV. In Sage lingo STV is the user interface package you are using, not the Sage product per se. You can think of Sage as having two layers; the Core and the STV. The core provides all of the functionality and the STV provides the user interface. So when you hear people talking about "what STV are you using?" they are referring to the user interface.

In order to get used to Sage I'd recommend sticking to the default STV without any plugins. Once you get comfortable with that you can experiement with different plugins, themes and STVs.

thanks! well it wasnt that easy partly for me not paying attention during setup ... the toughest part was trying to get my Directv h23-600 to http tune... my other boxes h21-100 and h21-200 worked right away with the easier way of http tuning... in the end i have both versions of the Http tuning working on my sagetv server lol.....as long as it works and i dont have to use a usb uirt or serial cables to change channels im a happy! i saw some people had successful/stable system when they capture via component with the colossus when having different types of tuners in one system (im capturing by HDMI). I might try that or i might just wait for the next driver update/ beta... depends how determined i get
