Colossus and Comskip
I have been using Sage since the 1.4 days.. Comskip has always done a pretty good job. I am using the latest donor version but with the new Colossus I cannot get it to find any, or maybe only one commercial every now and then in the .ts files the Colossus creates. I have tried the "volume_slip=150" change the readme suggests with no change. I have tried an .ini file that I found posted here that was apparently working for someone else but I have had no luck. Comskip works with all of the other shows Sage records with my HDHR's, and my one PVR500 tuner.
I am using the drivers from the CD that came with the Colossus and have it setup in Sage as just component. It has been recording really well with only an occasional blue screen recording. I may update to the latest driver from the website and try using component+spdif but am in the it's working don't want to break it mindset. If I could just get Comskip to work I would be a happy camper.. I have searched around but haven't seen anything specific to how I make it work. Hoping someone has some ideas... |

My wife and I do not require live commercial detection. I have comskip start looking for commercials immediately after the Colosuss starts recording but I wait until my mpeg recordings are complete before starting comskip. When I first started using the Colosuss I did not realize how long it took comskip to finish a h264 file and I thought comskip was not working because so few commercials were found. But in reality, comskip had not completed the scan and when it did the commercial detection was actually pretty good.

I don't use live detection either. The Colossus shows do run all the way through the comskip process as I have checked what is running, and what is finished. Just deleted all the comskip files from my recordings drive and let comskip run all of them again. After it ran through them all again everything but Colossus shows are great.
I figure it must be something in the comskip.ini file that I don't have right. I have used the stock .ini, modded as per the readme, and still no go.. What version comskip is working? Maybe I will go back a version. |

I think you need to use the pay version of Comskip for h264 unless something has changed. Or the version supplied with comskip plugin is a non h264 version and you need to update to a newer version. Have a look here, http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...12&postcount=8
And Tom's reply in post #9. I currently use showanalyzer for h264 (HDPVR TS files) recordings with the commercial detector plugin with no problems. |

I used to use showanalyzer and then the guy that makes it seems to have disappeared so I went back to comskip. Which has worked fine for a long time. |
