Vizio TV discrete IR commands
Google and I haven't found any way to predictably choose the desired video input on my TV. The Vizio I have provides several HDMI, Component, composite, and RGB.
My HD300 is on one HDMI. Cable box on HDMI. DVD player on HDMI. PC VGA video -> Composite on the composite A/V input. All I've found is that when I power up the DVD, and that HDMI goes active, something from the DVD tells the Vizio to activate that HDMI. But this takes many seconds. Some say Vizio TVs (all of them?) lack a means for discrete IR commands to select a particular input. My Vizio is fairly new, has ethernet input, internet gadgets, etc. To get a better WAF, I want to program macros in the IR remote to switch to Sage's HD300 and back to the cable box with one button push. Stumped. |

Not sure if this is any help, but my Vizio 554 definitely has discrete input selection commands. The thing is, the Vizio remote doesn't have them, so you can't just learn them from it. I'm using a Harmony remote and the Vizio setup in the Harmony database at Logitech has the discrete codes in it already. There might be a set of Pronto hex files out in googleland as well. The Pronto codes can be massaged into .ir files for the USBUIRT. The other thing that's necessary with the newer Vizios like my 554 is that a macro that turns on the TV has to wait quite a while for the "Vizio Internet Apps" screen to disappear before trying to set the input. Otherwise the command is ignored.
All this techno nonsense just reminds me of an old stupid cartoon with the caption "the aheader I go, the behinder I get" |

Is the ".ir" format unique to Sage? Is the format documented anywhere? Any tips on Pronto-to-.ir, manually or automated, appreciated. On discrete codes: My TV is a Vizio E422VA. At power-up, it displays a Vizio logo for 10 seconds or so - I guess the CPU is booting, but it doesn't show the Internet gadgets unless I request them. |

Don't know if this helps, but:
Per Vizio's web site: http://www.vizioce.com/site/support/ What are the codes for programming the remote for my Cable Box to control my Vizio? 1758; 0178; 10178; 627; 502 Set 0178 seems to work for people. Wide = 00138 TV = 00110 AV = 00105 Component = 00231 HDMI = 00174 The menu key code is 00171. MENU = 00171 UP = 00168 DOWN = 00166 LEFT = 00170 RIGHT = 00037 OK = 00164 |
