USB-Uirt and Brand New Dish Remotes
Ok so a little background, I am a long time Sage user and I know my way around this program fairly well. I dropped My Dish subscription for a few months to save some money and now I have gone ahead and signed back up for the service I am having a strange problem.
I cannot get my Usb Uirt to transmit a "0" (zero) Every other number or command works just fine. Doing a lot of poking around with these receivers I have found that when I press numbers 1 through 9 on the remote the receiver registers the press immediately while when I press zero on the remote the receiver doesn't accept a zero until I release the button. I am sure this has something to do with the problem but I have no Idea how to fix it. Any thoughts? |

search around here on the forums. I, as well as others, have posted up dish network .ir files in the past.

Did you try using LrnHelper? You can see the codes that the USB-UIRT is receiving with LrnHelper.

I did try lrnhelper, it couldn't record the "0" either. Apparently the new Dish Remotes handle 0's differently. It seems to have more options than just being a 0 key now. I fortunately found some old ir files in an old backup and that did the trick for me, but anyone trying to "teach" the codes from there remote on a new setup are going to have some serious trouble.
Thanks for trying though. -Ben (the new remotes from dish have a black back and black border around the front instead of being all silver FYI) |

I got around this problem with my dish boxes by first recording the zero key into my universal learning remote (made by one-for-all) which was much more forgiving about a short signal blast and then learning the code on the usb-uirt off the learning remote.

I used a utility from Shadeblue's STB Keep Alive service to learn the "0" which I was having trouble with. I then copied it into the appropriate IR file.
Also, I was told the usual - keep the remote on a level horizontal plane with the receiver, try a couple different distances since some remotes blast so strong they overload the receiver, others need to be a few inches away, and the usual, don't have fluorescent lights on while learning codes. I have a Dish 211 Solo HD if you want the "0" code for it. Let me know. I think I also had a little trouble with the "enter" code as well. Mine have worked fine for about 6 months now.
