Oh, I got it...

For instance, one DVD iso is recognized as a DVD.

Just did some testing now, and...

A MKV file is recognized as a Matroska format file, and the output resolution does change to 720p, which is the correct one for that file.

A BD iso file (which was converted from an HD-DVD disk) is recognized as an MPEG-TS file, but resolution doesn't change to 1080p24 (it should change).

I thought it would display the actual format though, like 480i, 720p60, 1080i60, etc.

My guess is the files for which it isn't working, are recognized as a format that doesn't have a corresponding resolution enabled, and thus it's defaulting to the highest resolution.

Well, everything's better now. I updated to the last beta firmware (was using the release firmware, before) and now I get:
- 576i for DVD iso
- 1080p24 for Blu-ray
- 720p50 for my MKV file.

Great!!

Anyway, I still can't get 480i to output from DVD. Is that because I have the TV option set to PAL and not to NTSC???

Also, have to find a way to automatically set the Display Ration to "Fill" instead of "Source" only when playing DVD isos (480i/576i).

Can anybody shed a light on these, please?

It's quite possible, the output resolution switching works by matching the source format to one of the selected/available output resolutions. If 480i isn't enabled, it won't switch to it. Now what might work, is manually specifying 480i in the properties file like I think someone else mentioned.

You should be able to do that from the aspect ratio option while video is playing, when you select the AR you want you have the option to set a default. Now that will be the default for everything, but with native switching that shouldn't be a problem.

You have to ad it to your extenders properties file - not Sage.properties. You find that file in /rw/sage/clients.

480i output from DVDs?? is is not alway 576ix720? Good to hear that the rest is working.

good luck

Rasmus

480i is the NTSC standard, so DVDs from the USA are actually 480i and not 576i format.

Ahh yes its true, but then my line should work as well for them. I don't use stand alone mode but I think it works anyway

I got no /rw/sage/clients folder. Can this be done elsewhere?

Ahh yes sorry. I forgot you use the stand alone mode. Then you don't have a client folder on the server.

I wonder if you can find it on you extender. Look under network for a HD300.
