HD-300 erronously displaying: Trial period expired

Apologies for begging (again) for help (tech support request filed, but perhaps someone here knows):

New HD-300. Working OK for a day.
This morning, when powered-on via the remote, when going to Sage extender mode, it displayed Trial Period Has Expired.

The two MVPs do not display this. The PC clients do not display this.
The Sage 6.6 I have has been running for years; is licensed, has not been reinstalled.

Are you sure it is 6.6? From the FAQ:
Quote:
The SageTV STP-HD200 and STP-HD300 need no license entered on the SageTV server when used with SageTV v6.5 and later; it will automatically be recognized as a valid extender or placeshifter client. Or, it can be used in stand-alone mode.

Thanks.
My error: the client is 6.6 and now that I look at the server it is 6.2; I thought it was 6.6.

I also didn't know that there was a license issue for extenders. The MVPs didn't have such.

Gulp. I have to upgrade the server and that's risky. I don't want to lose the WAF. Wiz.bin is backed up.

PS: where did that statement about 6.5 and later come from? Not in the HD-300 manual that I could find. Just in FAQs?

Back up your whole sage directory and stick it somewhere safe. Do the upgrade over your existing version. If all else fials you can go back by reinstalling 6 and then copying your backup over the new install. And again from the FAQ:
Quote:
Both the Hauppauge MVP and SageTV STX-HD100 media extenders come with the required media extender license when purchased directly from SageTV. Remember: media extender licenses are installed on the SageTV server system; see Appendix M of the SageTV manual.
So you better make sure you have all your licenses before even attempting this.

thanks!!
I backed up, restore point, drive imaged.
Updated to Sage 6.6.2.
All seems well. HD300 error message "Trial period ended" is gone (kind of wish it or manual had said you need server 6.5 or later).

My list of license numbers, dating back to version 4, or Sage server 4, update to 6, MVPs, PC clients is correct, but I don't know for sure. I've sent the info and inquired of Sage.

To go to Sage 7 on all the above, not sure what all has to be purchased. I did see a $40 cost for the server license. Not sure I ever purchased that, nor if there's a charge for PC clients going to v7.

Is there an all-encompassing document on this to read?

The only thing that needs a new license is the server itself. All client and extender licenses are still valid with v7. The $40 v7 upgrade license is all you'd need to purchase. the "All-encompassing document" is the Manual, and the FAQ.
