I've had a colossus for about a week and have had really good luck with it. HTTP channel changing is awesome. I use the colossus for everything but SD (it doesn't like SD, and it has worked flawlessly so far.

I have the latest driver, channel change interval set to 12sec so the video can lock on. I'm going to try a shorter interval because that is quite a long time. I also have the server set for daily restart to make sure everything runs smooth.

Yes I have. It works, but seems a little quirky. Once I get my new motherboard and cpu I'll try windows 7 without the daily reboots to see how things go. For now it works so I'm not touching it.

12 seconds is long. I was using ~4 sec with the old hdpvr and now with the Colossus, which works fine.

4sec had issues with a recording (the first) so I changed it to 12. I may go down to 8 and see what happens. If all is well, I'll go down from there.

Not with mine. Horrible problems and I'm only recording HD channels. HDMI with 5.1 sound locked to 1080i. Haven't switched to 12sec yet but will some time this week. I'm still at the default 4sec.

Bad news: digital AAC audio still does not work for me, results in no audio and stuttering video. Also doesn't take much channel surfing before I get stuttering video, except now I also get stuttering (analog) audio. Server has crashed a couple of times tonight.

Overall: one step forward, one and a half steps back. Haven't decided yet if I will revert back to the previous driver or not, I'll try to live with this one for another day or so before I decide.
what's the latest from your standpoint on this? which drivers are you using (both Sage and Hauppauge) so that resolution changes DON'T cause 'blue screen' recordings?
I am still using a fixed res of 720, but if you have have months of success, please let me know
thanks

I wish I had better news for you. First and foremost, my Colossus still resides on my test server, to me it still falls short of the bar as far as reliability and quality. However, I have not changed any drivers or settings in the last 3 months, so as not to risk missing an episode of True Blood (WAF would have gone into the negatives by missing a single episode). Now that they've wrapped the season, I'll be tinkering some more.

First, the easy answers. I'm currently using Hauppauge's 1.0.29111 Colossus driver. Not sure what you mean by Sage drivers. I have found that resolution switching is much more reliable using the HDMI input instead of the component input(s). So I am using a converter box (/dp/B004OBJ340) to convert the signal from component to HDMI. I had issues with digital AAC audio using both component and HDMI input, so I have switched to analog audio until digital audio works more reliably. And even after settling for this less-than-optimal setup, I still have to reboot the server nightly.

So I thought I had a workable solution, until about half way through the True Blood season, my wife started to notice that the picture was noticeably darker than it should have been. Details that she was able to see on forum posts, etc. were too dark to make out on our recorded copy. Adjusting the brightness and contrast within Sage did nothing, presumably because I am using the HDMI input into the Colossus instead of component. Unfortunately, the adapter box does not have brightness/contrast controls, and neither does my Motorola DCX3200 cable box.

My plans for the near future are to try the 29192 Colossus driver, and see if that makes a difference for me. I think I also read that there may be a new driver being released in September, so I'll probably give that a shot also, although at this point my expectations are pretty low. I'd buy another Colossus or two in a heartbeat if it would work properly. Or even better, I'd buy an HDHR Prime in less than a heartbeat, but unfortunately my only cable company option is Brighthouse Networks, and they don't flag their content as copy freely.
