Live TV is not always "live" in SageTV V7
Most of you probably know this and don't care, or even like it, but I think the default behaviour for the interaction of currently recording shows and live tv in SageTV V7 is not politically correct. I install SageTV systems for clients and quite a few are confused by the behaviour.
What I am talking about is the fact that, when a show is recroding, and you are channel surfing, all video will be live until you happen to get to the channel that has a recording airing. All of a sudden, SageTV will begin playing the airing from its beginning. Now, I am not saying that I do not personally like this, but, being live TV, customers expect it to be live (I am not trying to attack the few seconds of buffering here). All SageTV needs is an option to enforce live TV to be always live, irrespective of whether the siring is recording. I could not find a plugin for this feature, and to be honest, I really believe this belongs in the core preferences that come with the product. Does anybody have a workaround? |

I was just talking to my wife about how this irks us yesterday. I don't understand the reason for it either. If you are starting something you are watching somewhere else (usually the news for us) you want it at live not back when the other client started the feed. I don't think there are any workarounds but I am going to work on one myself and will share if you want.

Always tune to live TV when using the guide?
Hi,
I've done a search but could not find an answer. Is there an option for when using the guide to tune into a channel for it to always tune into live TV regardless if the show is currently recording or not? I find it annoying when there is a live sports program on and I end up a few minutes behind without realising it, and the misses doesn't like it if there's a show recording but she wants to watch the next show that starts in a couple of minutes. Cheers * merged * |

There is a plugin that does this. I can't remember the name though.
Phoenix does this by default. |
