Yes, I've noticed this as well. At first I thought it was a strange issue with 'samba' and sage .....but I'm not so sure now. Doug

Is it just 30 seconds or does it vary. As has been pointed out elsewhere, Sage seems to have a problem getting the MP3 running time correct. For example two tracks checked at random.
Track 1: Sage 06:13 / Actual 03:56 Track 2: Sage 05:37 / Actual 03:57 Only one second difference in true running times, but Sage shows 36 seconds difference. Of course Sage will not move to the next track until the run time has been reached, so you can get a big delay between tracks. |

Sage does not calculate the durations of VBR/ABR MP3 files correctly:
http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthr...&highlight=vbr (it uses the bitrate of the first MP3 frame and assumes it is for the whole file when calculating the duration)

This makes it indeed very difficult to use the Music Jukebox for my mp3's. Anyway I want to put all my music CD's again in mp3 format to play them under SageTV.
Do you know a trick to get around the problem or do you know a CD ripper or WAV to MP3 Convertor which does not have this problem........... |

You might also want to let Frey know how much working VBR playback means for you. The more Frey knows an issue is wanted, the more effort the should put into getting it in/fixed ASAP.

This issue, along with the issue of some CBR MP3s not starting until FF is pressed (they work fine in every other player I've used), is the reason that I've given up on Sage and moved over to Meedio (I can wait for the TV plugin). I've submitted both issues as bugs to Frey, and only received vague "we're working on it" responses.
I've ripped my entire music collection (400+ CDs) to MP3 over the years, and there is no way I'm going to go back and re-encode everything just so that it "might" work in Sage, when they already play correctly in every other player. |

This is the *exact* problem that I am having as well! There is a pause in between the songs that is really annoying... Mine are all VBR as well and I am not in a position to re-rip all of my CDs... How complex is a fix for this issue?

getting same problem
I also have hours of work that have gone into encoding my mp3s as vbr. Fixing this issue is on the top of my list of things I'd wish to see remedied in Sage.
Is there an audio codec (like LAME, etc) that we could pop in to replace the one that comes with Sage? skyw33 |

I have been having this identical problem, try to play an mp3, and get nada about 80% of the time. For whatever reason, sometimes it works fine for a certain file, but try the same file again, and nothing. Most frustrating.
My music files work in every other player that I have just fine and are not encoded in VBR. A fix for this would be really nice. GT |

Is this complicated to fix? To not put a delay inbetween VBR MP3s?
