Hitachi Coolspin 600 sata drives

anyone tried these yet? My Hitachi Deskstar is a little LOUD - wondered if these were the same. Good sale at Fry's at the moment (2gb - $70)

2 gb is awfully small....

All being equal, I bought one of these last month(2 TB), and they are as quiet as my WD AVGP, and Segate LP drives.

I am having zero issues with it for DVD backups.

GB - lol - nice one. oops.
Glad to hear the 2 TB is good. Any idea if you can adjust them acoustically? I seem to remember I couldn't do that with the Deskstar series, which is why they were so loud. The Seagates CAN be adjusted.

I am not sure, but according to the manual the acoustic level is 2.4 bels at idle, and as high as 2.7 at load. The Segate LP drives are 2.5 and 2.6 respectively.

So, I would assume at default settings one would not see an appreciable difference.
