Sage Recordings
Is there a way to tell Sage to not save the shows I just "watch" to my list of recordings? I realy only want ones that are Favorites or selected to be recorded to be available for later viewing. If I leave Sage on all day, it records all shows on the current channel and adds them to SageRecordings. It makes findind and sorting through my list of recordings difficult.
Also, when does sage delete the files from shows that I have watched but not chosen to record? Do they get deleted before favorites that I have watched ? Or are watched shows deleted based on age? Thanks! |

I just downloaded the trial ... and so far so good (after I updated the PVR-250 drivers and set the video codec from 'default' to the Intervideo/Hauppauge one). SageTV seems much more intuitive than the competition (I'm a long time Tivo user).
Anyway, I'm also running into this ... any help in having these non-scheduled shows not be recorded would be appreciated! Thanks, Victor Tavernini |

See Detailed Setup and look for Intelligent Recording... This will certainly turn this off. But what you can alternatively do is "train" SageTV's Intelligent Recording to not record programs outside your interest.

Turning off Intelligent Recording will stop Sage from recording random shows when in sleep mode. It will only record your favourites and manually slected shows. However, there is no way to turn off recording when you are watching a show. This is how you are able to pause and rewinde "live" TV.

But such recordings will not show up in the SageRecordings list - so I think this will address the concern mlbdude stated above... |

If I watch a show from start to end it is added to my SageRecordings. So, for example, if I leave it on and walk away Sage will record and add all shows that come on to my SageRecordings list.
I turned off Intelligent Recording before ever using SageTV. That is not a feature that I am interrested in since I have plenty of Favorites set to record. I did find a way to have Sage delete all partial files (shows you watch for a a few minutes but do not complete), but have yet to find a way to tell Sage to not bloat my SageRecordings list. |

I was asking about this in a different post. Can you tell me what your strategy was for this? Thanks, R |

There is a line in the Sage.Properties file called something like "delete_partial_on_exit". Set that to true and it seems to clean itself up when you exit the program. I think that is the property name (I can't get to my PC right now). Unfortunately it only does this on exit. I kind of wish it did it every do many hours or so.

I'll add a configuration parameter at some point in the future that 'cleans' up the SageRecordings list so you don't see all of those extra files.

That would be great. I am having the same issue. Also I must be doing something wrong because Sage seems to keep recording shows on the current channel even with Intelligent Recording off...maybe it's not going to sleep? Sorry for the Newbie errors but better discuss em here where a search might find it later than in support email I guess
My questions would be: How do I make Sage sleep after "X" time? Training Intelligent Recording was mentioned as an alternative solution. Is there a good thread or faq on this that anyone knows of off the top of their head? -Drewbot |
