Firewire channel change

Where are updated instruction to get this to work? I already have the Tim Moore's pluggin for channel change installed for BeyondTV. How do I get this to work with SageTV? There all these posts about firewire channel change but they are post from 5 years ago and point to files that only download a regkey file and nothing else. I have spent all day trying to figure this out.

I followed instructions from this post, granted you may need to experiment, but do read more of that thread all the information you need is there.

Finally found this post to get me on the right direction....HERE

There really needs to be a noobie guide or something for people coming from other systems. It's great that there is so much stuff here on the forums. However, a bunch is out dated and should just be deleted.

I've had the same experience. I think a wiki would really go along way, but it seems that there really is no central wiki (AFAIK)...

I use Babgvant's FWChannelProxy

http://babgvant.com/files/folders/sa...ntry11740.aspx

and it is probably the easiest and simplest way to setup Firewire channel changing in SageTV

Thanks for passing it along - I am planning to rebuild my server and this seems great. I so wish I could do this on 64bit Windows 7....alas...

Tell me about it.... I guess I will just stick with XP for now. I will rebuild my server once firewire changing is supported on 64-bit.

JerryB, is there a regkey needed for FWChannelProxy? I need to use the -f switch with Channel.exe but I dont see where you set that info.

I need the -f switch as well. However, it is automatically sent and you don't need to program anything into the registry.

Your problem may be related to the version of FWChannelProxy that you have. Going back over my records, I now remember that Babgvant made some changes to the program (added some additional default commands) to address problems that some people were having shortly its release and he may not have ever changed the download link to the version with these additional commands built in. You can get the latest version with these commands from the discussion concerning FWChannelProxy on his forum.

http://babgvant.com/forums/t/2556.aspx?PageIndex=1

I believe the link to the version with the additional commands is in a message on the second page of the discussion. This version also contains a test program (described in the discussion) so that you can verify that everything is working outside of SageTV and before attempting to use the program in SageTV.

If I remember correctly, the first version I downloaded didn't work for me either but the version with the additional commands has been flawless ever since I started using it. Sorry, I should have remembered this but I thought Babvgant would have updated his download link to the latest version long before now.

I got it working. I had a regkey left over from BTV Timmoore's channel change dll. I had an arguments value set to 2. I replaced that with -f and it started working.
