Coreavc 2.5 is out

For those who use coreavc as their main decoder - coreavc 2.5 is out now -
http://corecodec.com/products/coreavc to read about the new improvements.

Not sure how good it is as of yet as I just installed it and plan on seeing if it's better then coreavc 2.0.

If you use the code ""25launch" you will save 4 dollars when purchasing. I hope I posted this in the right area. If not , will a moderator please move it to the proper area.

just updated to 2.6

I use CoreAVC 2.6 now (from 2.5.5).
Just updated it (and Nvidia drivers too for good measure).
I did wonder about buying another copy to get the free upgrade to 3.0, but decided not to.
My reason was that as SageTV isn't being developed now (that we're aware of), any bugs in CoreAVC/SageTV were unlikely to be resolved.
Just my opinion of course.

If anyone feels like posting their findings if the upgrade to 3.0, i'd be interested to read them.

Just upgraded my 2.6.1 install to 3.0 (I bought a couple 2.5 licences a month or so ago at a discount that included the free 3.0 upgrade) and it's working petty good for me. May be better or at least on par with the MS codec. It's playing back all my odd ball MKV's with no issues.

And there-in lies the problem. If it is just 'on-par' or even a little better than the FREE ms codec... why pay for it?

There are plenty of new features (listed above) over the 2.5/2.6 so it may be worth it to some. I would have just said it is "better" than the MS codec but knew you'd question me on it, and hey I wear glasses you'd never believe me anyways... I will say this, the CNNHD ticker was silky smooth, isn't that the goal we all strive to achieve

Also, I had issues with 2/2.1/2.5/2.6 with stuttering after comskiping and 3.0 seems to have solved that for me...

Yet I have no problems with stuttering at all with the MS decoders and ReClock... (Tickers, when I see them, are smooth as well).

Considering MS codec(s) can not handle MKV files at all I am not even sure what we are comparing here other than vc1 and avc files. I would imagine that anyone buying coreavc is buying it more for mkv/haali support.

what? I watch H.264 MKV's quite often with just the MS decoders...

I have an ATI 5850 HDMI so that may be part of it... or maybe the HDPVR ts files causing me grief... Who knows... Arcsoft (From TMT5) was the best for me other than the MS decoder but now seems like the Coreavc 3.0 is up there too and I don't have to install a separate MKV splitter (like Haali) as it's built in. I have never had problems with MKV's with the MS decoder, although you needed the Haali/Matroska splitter or similar to do so.

Fuzzy - Now, would you stop busting my b@lls! Peace ;o)
