Odd issue programing Remote. please help
I got sage tv last night and was setting everything up, and ran into a very odd issue.
Setup is. windows xp sage 7 usb uirt comcast Pace DTA When trying to learn my remote, it was seeing every button as the same IR number. It would ask me if I wanted to remove the number from button 0 and switch it to 1. Further testing showed me the remote would send different numbers at different times. I found this out by going to remove coded where I could keep pressing the button over and over. In the learn feature you only get one press. I found some people who posted a .ir file for this remote, but could not find where to load it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Noobie |

Thanks JP! I may be missing something, but how do I load that file into Sage? I found no option to link that file to my setup. I see the remotes folder, but cant get it to load automatically.

copy it into
sagetv\Common\RemoteCodes\USB-UIRT Transceiver\ and then it will show up as a choice.

You can also try Shadeblue's KeepAlive service. It includes an applet that lets you see and copy each IR code.
There are also really specific recommendations for learning IR codes I never knew about, such as keeping the remote parallel to the USB-UIRT during learning, fluorescent lighting issues, delays between digits, repeat rates, even that the main USB-UIRT blaster should be a little bit far away from the STB as it can almost "overpower" the receiver, it sends out such a strong IR blast, as it should, since many people have it some distance from what they are "blasting". I don't think that applies to the little IR dot emitters you stick on your receivers, just the big main transmitter. Just a few things to consider. It's how I got the right IR code for "Select" on my Dish receiver.
