Figures, I jinxed myself. Just checked my live TV and it is shuttering..

Of course a sage cycle cleared it up again.. May need to just setup a script to cycle sage once a day to keep it going...

Thanks,
Jeff

Talking to SageTV support, they seem to be stumped. There is an error in their software coding somewhere that does not work with Colossus HDMI in. It probably is a simple line entry somewhere or a redirection of output flag but thats for SageTV to fix, I'm just guessing. To be fair, without my HTPC, DVI repeater and UVERSE STB to play with in their lab, I honestly can't expect too much from them. Hauppage has realeased beta driver that claims to support Windows 7 Media Center. Guess that's another option to look into.

There seems to be some progress with DVDBlogic and UVERSE STB and W7MC. Will have to read up on it, some hope! http://dvblogic.com/phpBB3/viewtopic...p=38348#p38348

They have not realeased any beta driver for MCE that will be a software plugin for MCE just like HD-PVR model.
And there is no error in their software coding becuase it dose work with Colossus and HDMI min people here are using it.
Try this Disable HauppageTVServer in Service in Control Panel | System and Security | Administrative Tools also move the 2 startup links from Programs | Startup reboot.
Tip is you need kill any capture~.exe that run in background after running and closeing WinTV7 thoses services don't automatic close them self.
C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\ make a backup copy and del the Sage.properties try new fresh setup.

Will try what you offered but SageTV 7 did not work on fresh build with Colossus or after installing WinTV 7 either way. The AverMedia MTVHDDVRR card (not installed now) also captured HDMI in with AverMedia Center software. NERO LiquidTV (not installed now) saw the MTVHDDVRR card but did not support HDMI source from any card and probably never will. I can try a Blu-Ray source file as well and see what happens, that also works for Showbiz capture software.

So far DVBlogic and W7MC is the only mention of using UVERSE HDMI source successfully. No one in this forum or SageTV themselves has stated "yes, have successfuly setup UVERSE VIP1200 STB with HMDI input to Colossus card" Instead I'm told and scolded with "There are so many people who are doing this already, what is your problem, you must be slow" Fine, post their link here and I'll ask them what it took to make it work. If you check out DVBlogic they HAD TO ALTER CODE and/or settings to make Colossus work with W7MC.

Colossus + UVERSE = No HDMI in

Followed the above instructions to the letter. No joy, same issue "Loading Preview. Please wait..." forever...............
One thing was accomplished, WinTV 7 no longer works.

Stevon. Are you using the MUX-HD (saw in another post)? If so, please remove it from the mix while troubleshooting, otherwise IT could be causing the problems.

Many others are capturing HDMI with audio, but only from boxes that are unencrypted.

Yeah I know at&t boxes here are encrypted as well and won't work with the collusus. I have tried, but I am using it with dishnetwork myself.

Uverse is encrypted out the HDMI port isn't it? Won't work with Colossus.

And just to be perfectly clear it won't work in wmc or any other platform either. Collussus doesn'tand won't support encrypted hdmi feeds. The only way to get hdmi right now is use dish or directv (and I hear fios as well). as they don't have the encryption on the hdmi (certian boxes on dish and directv).

Right. That was my understanding for the card. I have a HD video camera with a HDMI output that is unencrypted so I could also get it to work with that. But Dish and DirectTV could work depending on the model set top box you have. I haven't purchased a Colossus yet. My HD-PVR works fine. Just waiting for the bugs and drivers to shake out of the Colossus. So it looks like the issues between the two (HD-PVR vs Colossus) are not just a straight forward USB vs. PCI-E.

The Colossus is using a different encoder chip so there is much more changed than just the interface. Hauppauge has a whole new firmware set to debug

Just curious for anyone that is capturing un-encrypted HDMI with the Colossus, can you tell if it is using the encoder chip copying a digital stream? If it's using the encoder chip (and actually encoding) then there really is not that much of a performance benefit of using HDMI vs. component.

I would assume it is capturing the digital stream but can't be 100% positive. The picture does have less artifacting for me via hdmi over component. Also just the ease of one cable

It has to use the encoder chip, if it weren't the files would be ~500-600GB/hr.

Many others are capturing HDMI with audio, but only from boxes that are unencrypted.
AT&T has avoided the Federal law that takes effect this July that cable and satalite providers must provide an alternative method to record HD content. The reason they escapped the law is because they sell IPTV and are not by legal definition a "cable company". Only unencrypted option from Motorola STB is compnent at 720p.

The Collosus card does not have onboard decryption engine so it can't negotiate keys, restore sync signal and convert to HD video and sound. MUX-HD does have the required decryption engine needed and works well.

MUX-HD is working fine for VIP1200 HDMI output to Avermedia HDMI capture card and Colossus using Arcsoft Showbiz, AverTV Media center and WinTV 7 so hardware is not the problem

This means the SageTV 7.1.5 software or setting issue is preventing a successfuly tested connection from seeing and recording clean unencrypted HDMI input. Suspect the sync signal is not working for HDMI?

Reset HauppaueTVServer service to manual and stopped the service. Opened SageTV 7, setup Video Sources, Colossus Capture 0 HDMI, channel setup. It shows "Fuctioning: true". Before making HDMI connections, I always turn off power on device, have killed a video card "hot plugging" cable. VIP1200 is set to channel 9 and connecting MUX-HD output directly to TV I see channel 9. Connecting Colossus card to MUX-HD running SageTV I see only "Loading Preview. Please wait..." The HauppaugeTVServer service was still stopped when I checked, SageTV did not start it.
WinTV 7 is working again if turned on and connected this way with toslink 5.1 audio and HDMI in from VIP1200 at 1080i

KEEP GOING. Do not stop at the loading preview screen. Pretend you see a good preview and finish the setup. Then go to the Program Guide and start watching from there.
