SageTV 7 no HDMI Capture? Colussus not supported?

Setting up the Colossus as a capture card in SageTV7 I see there is no input selection for HDMI source, only analog input! Is there any way to add unencrypted HDMI in support?

Nope. No waste. Just download the Beta first next time.

HDMI source?

How did you get the HDMI source to show up in SageTV7? On my setup of SageTV 7.0.23 I don't see that option. I have Hauppauge Drivers installed and ArcSoft Showbiz installed. Did not install the WinTV 7 software.

I didnt, I simply replaced one componet set with another. I am pretty sure that you need at least the 7.12 beta version of Sage to use the Colosuss. Install that and you will see options for HDMI and more. Do not install 7.13 or 7.14. Beta 7.15 is usable but if you are using the latest Diamond theme you may want to stick with 7.12. You do not need the WinTV software but you do need the SageTV Beta 7.12

Beta version?

Clift,

I was using SageTV 7.0.23 version, downloading latest beta 7.1.5 like you suggested.
Cheers,
Stephen

Installed version 7.1.5 and it now sees HDMI input. IR blaster that came with the Hauppauge Colossus is not seen in setup. Install the HVR 950Q USB one instead?

HDMI Signal not seen in SageTV 7

The IR blaster on the Colossus card was not accessable by SageTV 7 software. Reinstalled USB NERO Liquid TV USB IR blaster with Drivers from http://rapidshare.com/#!download|0tl...ers.zip.html|0 Both 32 and 64 bit drivers are there. Now LiquidTV IR blaster is seen under USB tab in Device manager. The changes caused SageTV 7.1.5 to crash during Colossus setup. Reinstalled SageTV again. IR blaster is not listed but setup allowed use of DirectTVSerialControl COM1. New issue is that preview in Colossus card setup for HDMI input does not see the unencrypted HDMI source like the WinTV 7 does on a previous build. There is no sound or video according to SageTV 7 coming in. Connected HDMI directly to TV and of course there is video. There is no HDCP issue because DVI "repeater" takes care of negotiation and decrypting and worked with WinTV 7. Driver issue? SageTV 7 install error code "Error 1904 Module C:\ProgramFiles\SageTV\Common\PsisDecd.dll Failed to register. HRESULT -2147352567. Contact your support personal."

Until Hauppauge updates their drivers you need to switch the STB output to PCM (I.E stereo) not Dolby Digital to record with sound on the HDMI input. At least that is what I had to do for my DirectTV STB. Since I want my 5.1 sound and I didn't see a BIG difference between HDMI and Component in the short tests I ran I have mine setup as Component+SPDIF.

SageTV 7 ver 7.1.5 no HDMI in

I have been working with SageTV support for a week to setup HDMI capture of unencrypted signal. They say "we don't support toslink feature" as an answer to no video! I said not to worry about audio, what about the HD HDMI capture from the Colossus card. He said "why don't you just use analog" Told him that defeats the purpose of buying the Colossus in the first place for me. Looking to capture digital to digital, encode then write to hard drive. SageTV support quote "we tried with the latest driver from Hauppauge and HDMI capture still worked fine with it. And you should also be aware that there are quite a few posts on our forums from other SageTV users that utilize HDMI capture on the Colossus card successfully" Who are these people he speaks of ?Anybody know? My current setup with STB, DVI repeater and Collosus card works to perfection with bundled WinTV 7 software (see screen shot). The exact same setup not changing one thing but running SageTV 7.1.5 shows "waiting" forever with no video when chossing Colosus HDMI source. Look closely at the picture and see on WinTV 7 UVERSE channel 1100 (HD channels are 1000 up) and sound. I'm not crazy, who has succeeded so far with Colossus HDMI and SageTV?

SageTV 7 ver 7.1.5 no HDMI in

Just to see if HDMI audio setting from STB might confuse SageTV7 and not allow video for some reason, checked and set it to "stereo" mode, still no video from HDMI in. So audio setting is having no affect on HDMI video input on Colossus card.

I am currently using HDMI with Directv and it was choppy until the latest driver update, now it has not had an issue so far. I don't have 5.1 turned on yet, just using 2.0 sound right now...

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,
So is DirectTV encrypted with HDCP like UVERSE is? The video is crystal clear and smooth with WinTV 7, no glitches or sync issues yet. Haven't recorded anything more than a half hour though so far.

Actually not sure how to tell, but I am guessing they are unencrypted since it should work if it was. Picture looks good and hasn't BSOD yet like it was with the old driver. You using the latest driver?

Thanks,
Jeff

I'm going to switch to HDMI with 5.1 on my Colossus in about a half hour when I have a recording window on the box. I'm hopeful since AC-3 over HDMI is reportedly supported with the new drivers. Will post again in 2-3hrs (want to test it before the next recording is scheduled.

I have 5.1 sound through HDMI now. Problem is that a significant number of times I get no sound at all until I switch to a different channel and then back. With the old drivers and Component+SPDIF I only had 1 recording that had no sound out of about 20. With HDMI and channel surfing I've had 3 out of 15 channels visited so far. I'll leave it for the moment but I will likely change back if I see similar results in my recordings this weekend.

Removed old Colossus hardware drivers and installed latest. Same problem, SageTV 7 no HDMI video still. WinTV 7 still working strong, wish I liked WinTV 7 program, life would be so much easier!
