Yes, more stuttering problems
I have been trying out Sage 2.0 for the past week and while it is great I am struggling with stuttering problems. Stock tickers show the problem easily, and so does quick panning shots. I have tried several decoders (Invervideo, Sonic, CyberLink, Elecard), VMR9, overlay, etc. and nothing seems to help. I have tried ReClock and it sometimes helps but creates audio dropout issues. The best thing I have done to help was to install PowerStrip and set the Refresh Rate to 59.94 Hz (2x29.97), but this still doesn't solve the problem completely. Here are my system specs:
Asus A7N8X-VM/400 Athlon 2400XP 512 MB PC2700 200 GB WD 8MB cache onboard Geforce4 MX440 (also tried Radeon 9800) onboard CM8738 Realtek ALC650 audio Hauppauge PVR-250 (series 16, retail) Infocus X1 DLP projector This must be a playback problem because I can play the recorded files on my other computer just fine, but playback of the recorded files through SageTV, BeyondTV, Windows Media Player, and even MythTV (linux) have the same problem. Is there any way around this? I have been searching the forums 3 days straight and have tried everything, I am about ready to give up. Thanks for any help. Just to check have you tried the Hauppauge Intervideo decoder with the two registry keys enabled to enabled DXVA? And with Overlay?

No, I have not tried the registry hack yet with Overlay. I will give that a shot as soon as I get home.

Just a little bit more info: I use WinDVD and ZoomPlayer to play DVD's without a problem. And I am using a VGA connection from the htpc to the projector.

How do DVD's look in Sage? Playing back a DVD is different because not deinterlacing takes place. With TV video files deinterlacing it going on and that is generally responsible for any kind of motion issues.

Try running a checkdisk. I had the same problems and nothing would correct it. Ran checkdisk and after the reboot eveything was perfect.

I was having a stuttering problem on my client. It turned out that it was the audio decoder. I changed it to a different decoder and it now works fine.

I tried changing the registry settings for the Intervideo NonCSS decoder and the problem got much worse, but only in Sage. In BTV it works but still stutters. Filesystem check reported no errors and didn't help, I am using 64k clusters and NTFS. As a last chance effort I put in another sound card (Philips acoustic edge) and the problem was much less pronounced. So, then I added Reclock and it seems to work fine now, at least during my 1 hour test session last night. So maybe it was a problem with the onboard audio of my board, which is a Crystal Media 8738. I believe in DirectShow the video signal is synced to the audio clock, so maybe that was the problem. I will have to mess with it again to make sure the problem is really solved.
Now I have another issue, which I will start another thread for. Thanks for the help guys! |
