Random crash resolved
Just thought I would share a recent experience. After a recent server rebuild that included installation of W7 on server and client and a video card to my client I had a number of stability problems. Issues included a number of crashes (client and server), spinning circle lockups, and freeze at the end of recordings. I had my HD-PVR hooked up at the time in the latest HD-PVR driver would cause the PVR to fail.
Several weeks ago my solution was to reconfigure a number of items including:
1) My recording directory was on the root folder of 4 separate hard drives. I created a recording folder on each drive (e.g. g-TV), configured as a simple share with no password, and configured as a UNC path.
2) uninstalled media center on the server and client.
3) Turned aero off on both Client and Server (I noticed TMT5 turns aero off)
It has been very stable ever since. Swapped the HD-PVR for Colossus today and everything is still good.
