VFS Views - What's missing?

If you have ideas for "views" ie, sets of media files that are logically grouped and sorted, that you'd like to see in Phoenix that are not there now, then let us know, and we'll see about creating the vfs entries to build the views.

ie, currently we have views like, TV grouped by series, then season, recordings, dvds, recorded movies, etc, but if there are some that are missing just post it here and describe it as best you can, like... "All movies (dvds, recorded movies, etc) grouped by year, and then sorted by release date, showing newer movies first"

Not sure if this can be handled by VFS or not but I would really like to see recently played videos. It would make a nice addition to the info/status screen...

That one might take some work... not sure if we have data on when a file was last played... I'll definately add it to the list of views to create through.

I'm surprised that Sage has never introduced such a feature??? Especially for v7. I must be in a small camp of people that would like to have an easy way to resume playing back an already started movie/show without having to go and find it.

How about

Movies
-DVD
-BluRay
-Playon (Netflix)

ACtually i think this may already be a view with the exception of the playon..

Or one that is NEWEST movies
which could look at
- recently added
- recent release to DVD/blu-ray (past 6 months)

DVD is added in the next release. BluRay is already there isn't it?

Playon is a work in progress, once we have playback working well there we'll have some views with that.

For me, I just am looking to build views based on my already well defined folder structures. Tonight it's just me, Phoenix and VFS. Cant wait.

There is a plugin out there that let's you view a list of your recently played movies. So the data is definately there, I just don't know if the current vfs implementation can get to this data, so it might have to get built-in some other way.

I added to my movie menu 2 items..

1) list movies by release date(uses the original air date ). I list newest movies first

2) list movies by date added to library(uses the media file id). Again I list the newest first

To me a movie is a movie and I don't do all that show DVD, blu-ray, etc.. So with each of those vfs I created I grabbed all Movies(I think even recorded ones, I might have left recoded out though..can't remember). But I find myself using these 2 vfs the most when trying to find a movie.

I'm with Gustovier on the movie thing. I care little the source or type of movie. I just like them all grouped together under a single view. Sorting preferences would be DateReleased asc/desc, Date Obtained newest, or simple alpha. An icon displaying type would be nice for the look, but for me uneccessary.

So you should have all your movies in the 'All Titles' view - if you don't I'm curious why.

Views based on folders I already have my movies split into, such as Kids movies, movies, exercise, home movies, general camera movies etc...

The view, "Sage Video Imports (Combined)", should do this for you already. I use sage the same way, in that I normally just navigate folders, and I use this view for that.

In the next release that view is linked to from the landing zone under Movies->Video Imports.

I believe they are all there.. I was just listing out what I do, and the 2 VFS's that I use the most that aren't there by default..

BTW.. did you see in previous posting I had somewhere, that the Recently Added Movies in the info pane(from pressing "info") button doesn't seem to be getting me Recently added movies there's some other stuff thrown in there..

All Movies sorted by title

All TV (recorded, imported) sorted by date added/recorded. A second level sort after series select would have them sorted in reverse series/episode order.

I have some TV series that are rips. They were set to Archived, Not Sage Recordings. By default they displayed under the "Browse TV" screen. I checked in BMT Web UI, and they were marked as above. I used the Batch Archived to True, rescanned and no change. Showed in "Browse TV" but not in "Browse Archived TV"

In BMT I batch set them to "Sage Recordings", rescanned, and now they correctly show up in "Archived" and not "TV Shows"

Not sure if this is by design, but users adding a series rip may rather they display under Archived by default?

I've seen some weird stuff around archiving items that Sage doesn't think are recordings.
